hey guys.

I have a 2008 FG xr6 turbo (6 speed manual) which just clicked 65,000k's. was replacing the shockers this morning with koni reds and saw something very unusual (see pic). I just had the centre diff bush replaced with a superpro comfort spec one but im not too sure if that's what has caused this. The car is very low aswell. anyway, heres the pic. What could cause this? Could this be fixed under warranty? (not sure if I even have warranty, car was bought second hand).

thanks in advance.

not warranty. Surprised you didnt notice it before. When my bush gets flogged I am thinking of cutting off the existing mount and designing a twin bush mount and welding up the hat to accept two bolts.

A nolathane bush is not a solution for me.

Car is standard power wise. I do dump the clutch here and there but that was when I first got the car and havnt done it in a while. Pedders put the diff bush in for me. I asked them to check everything over and they said everything was fine :s

If i had to make an educated guess it would be judging by the rust marks in the cracked area and the complete lack of dust etc in the grease (ie it hasnt been in there very long) it was cracked before the bush was installed. The work pedders did to remove the old bush (think hammer and drift) has helped the crack along.

The extra load from the firmer bush has finished the crack off.

I think you may be on to something there. I never thought of it that way. Makes sense in a way. The diff bush was only installed 8 days ago, hence looking all new and there being no dust in there.

A question I have is, what would cause that part to crack? I've never seen anything like it in a BA/BF/FG.
