What about drilling and wiring the heads? Will that weaken them too much?

What power does this become an issue?

Thanks

Problems like this have occurred from even standard cars. the likely hood is only greater when your more than doubling the power output.

So the job is done, all up it took around 4 hours the hardest part being reinstalling the box, that I assure you was a *beep* doing it solo.

after pulling the box out all the bolts where loose and one was completely out lying in the bell housing.

I have a bit of an intermittant light squeal coming from around the front of the box, rear of the engine area sometimes when the car is idling. Its only there sometimes and sounds a bit like a squealing belt. Does anybody know if that's a flexplate symptom?

Ive just broken my atomic flexplate, snapped most the bolts off and they were tig welded

I spoke to brad from atomic, and he said he gets them sent off and has a guy do it for him, and its perfectly fine

and it doesnt send your engine out of balance, and the heat from the weld wont weaken the bolts etc..

dont know why it broke then ???

did it break the bolts or break the weld off the flex plate? welding high tensile bolts etc normally just makes them brittle and then break

have you got an atomic balancer aswell?

its broke the welds off the plate, and sheered some off from the crank, the welds themself were about 10cm on each bolt, my mechanics rekon the heat has made them brittle.. I have to tap the bolts out the crank, and re tap it with stronger bolts I was suggested

Its got a 998 atomic complete motor

Wow I would not go doing that, apart from balance issues the thermal stress caused by welding can destroy the flexplate under load

;)
