I've had heaps of people comment on my Phantom XR6T. The other night however was probably the most fulfilling yet. Firstly, I had 3 guys gawking and pointing as I sat in the car at the servo. My window was slightly down as I sat in the driver's seat. I could hear them saying .... "Yeah ... It is the new one". Then, from the rear view mirror, I saw one of them point at the Turbo badge and say .. "F#$% .. It's the Turbo too". His mate said "Expensive ?" .. He replied "Yeah .. but they fly". Then he saw me and gave me the thumbs up. About 5 minutes later a guy tentatively approached asking if it was the new Falcon. I told him it was the new Turbo and he nearly wet himself. He asked if it was good on fuel and I told him it sucked. He laughed. Then .. driving home I had a bunch of WRX hoons eying me off wanting a showdown. One on one, the little Rex probably would've had me but with 4 in the car, I'd have eaten him alive. Unfortunately it didn't happen as I had to turn at the next set of lights.

This is pretty much a typical scenario though and it is hard to wipe the smile off your face when YOUR car attracts so much positive attention.

What sort of experiences have you guys had ???

I don't drive a BA XR6T....only an AU1 XR6T....the most hilarious experience I had was with a HSV GTO Coupe. We were at the lights and I noticed the driver giving me the stare. Not knowing if that stare was an invitation to a little display of rocketscience....or coz he mistook me for a TS50 due to my rear bumper bar and spoiler. We didn't waste time trying to figure out each others' intentions...so as expected we fired off at the lights, with my XR6T going "whoosh" "whoosh" as it progressed with ease thru the gears. The GTO was blarring really loud so I guess the driver must have given the b**ch a really hard time. At the next set of lights, the GTO driver wound down his windows (I obliged by winding mine down too) and asked "WTF have you got in there?" ... ;) A turbo of course!

As the lights turned green, we went for a few more sprints and then he turned out to the highway.... sigh....all good things must come to an end I suppose

Other funny experiences include seeing drivers of Commodores stick their heads out to look at my car in the morning peak hour traffic....and also Late model camira drivers who because of their pride, refuse to turn their heads but were caught peeking through their side mirrors.... :D

It happens all the time.. Let me give you a few things..

1. Was driving along one day and could see this EF trying to race me, i was like what the hell and was doing the speed limite (yes as you all know 1 point left on my license till march). My eyesight isnt that good (as i work with computers) far away so couldnt make out who was driving it or anything. Anyway this car was trying to race me for a little while and i just put my foot down and launched the car. At the next lights they pulled up next to me.. it was a car full of girls like 19 or so.. they go to me nice car gorgeous.. and i laughed.. The guys in some done up hyundai excel on the other side of me couldnt believe the attention i got.

2. Had to go to my cousins house to help him with something and told him id be their at 9:30 in the morning.. had to go get fuel and was running a bit late so quickly pulled into the service station to fill up. Cars were lined up behind me waiting to get fuel. Had two guys from two different cars at the service station also filling up come over and want to look inside and under the bonnet. "is it the new turbo mate" "yes sure is" "how does it go on fuel" "how quick is it" "looks fantastic mate" "love the colour" just delayed me around 20 mins but so worth it..

3. Went with my cousin to chicken express to get something to eat. Saw this SS ute and decided to park next to it.. funny enough the Ute was the similar colour to my acid rush XR6t. Not only that the owner of chicken express owned the ute. He came out to have a look at the car, then 2 other guys came out from nowhere wanting to see the bonnet and inside, my cousin was with me so they sat inside it and had a look at one time had around 6 people looking inside the car saying what a fantastic car is it.. I have seriously never in my life experienced something like this especially just going to get something to eat..

ahhh not only that but you constantly get people slowing down just to see the turbo badge on the back of the car... love it

Guys,

I get looks just in the BA XR6 NA, if I had the turbo model or the XR8/GT/GT-P, I'd probably cause accidents...lol. :D They probably think, what's that ugly bast**d doing in a car like that...lol. :P

I'm just taking it all so easy, barely going over 100, constantly alternating speeds, painful at times. The funny thing is, people, unless they are totaly thick, realise you are running in a brand new car, they would speedup and slow down with me, sus the car out for several minutes and drive off. It's a cool feeling.

Dudes in other really nice cars have stayed beside me for a few seconds, even just in one trip from Ipswich (West of Brisbane) to East-Bayside of Brisbane, probably got 3-4 thumbs up. One guy yelling out "Great car dude"!! B)

Makes you feel really happy and proud of your new toy. We are not Kings randsome wage earners, Gawd!!! F A R from it. We do struggle and struggle hard at times. Had 2 cars, Mine was the ED XR6, Jodie's was a 98 model Festiva. Was struggling to pay the bills, 2 regos, 2 lots of insurance.

1 car was a viable option and with the AU III VCT, we thought what the hell, it's cheaper for us to just have one car so why don't we lash out and get our first new car. The BA XR works out cheaper, oh $50-60 cheaper a fortnight so stuff it glad we did, I love it (2nd to my wife of course).

I spent a week's holiday in Tassie recently with my new car, and (naturally) was on the lookout for other XR6Ts during the trip. Going into the last night of our stay, I hadn't seen one. We arrived late into Maccas about 10:00pm to grab a late dinner - the place was deserted. After ordering my meal (if you can call it that), I start walking back to our table and passed a guy (who just walked in) who looked me straight in the eyes with the biggest smile on his face. I walked straight by towards my table and as I was about to sit down, I noticed an XR6T parked beside mine.

I went outside and took a closer look - a phantom next to my silhouette. I got chatting with the owner and found that we both took delivery of our cars on the same day a month earlier. Felt like I was in the twilight zone!

Saturday I was driving to a wedding and a VY SS Late model camira was tailgating me. I didn't speed up because I was already doing the 60kph speed limit. The next thing on go it's lights....it was an un-marked cop car. I quickly checked my speed again before I pulled over. I'm thinking what have I done wrong and this was the last thing I need. As the cop approached with his partner I opened my window and had my license in my hand...the cop said put your license away I just pulled you over to have a look at your car. I was then releaved but very pissed off. I explained that I was on my way to a wedding and that it would have to be a quick look. Anyway they said nice car and is it as good as everyone says....and I said yes it is. He said how fast does it go and I said I don't know I haven't been over the speed limit. He said good answer and they both left.

Sunday a guy in a EF Fairmont pulled up along side of me hanging out of his window bowing. That was very funny and satisfying...the then gave me the thumbs up...said beautiful car and drove off.

These cars are getting a lot of attention at the moment. Everyone wants to race you and want a look. This is both good and bad.

Dude,

Don't worry then, It's not too far away, just a couple more weeks. If you look at past threads, you will see me complain endlessly. We ordered our car in October last year? They stuffed up the interior, gave us plexis grey, not plexis phantom. Had to wait for another build. We are so lucky one opened up in January or I'd be waiting longer than you. Possibly 1st week in march. ;)

The wait will make the whole experience that much better. I'm so excited over the XR6 NA. Imagine how you will feel in your new turbo. :P

Ha ha ROFL :LOL2: :yellowangel: That is so funny!

I get heaps of looks and comments on my car too. It's sort of like being a celebrity! B) I get heaps of people drive up fast behind me and I'm thinking they want a drag but most times they just want a look.

Ahh another funny one.. was driving to a friends house along the hume highway when noticed a police car stopped up ahead with the flashing lights. Upon coming closer noticed two police officers standing booking this person not sure what for. One of the police officers looked around and saw my car coming.. he tapped the other one on the shoulder and they both turned around completely ignoring the person they were booking.

One of the officers has a big grin on his face and gave the thumbs up to me.. I couldnt stop laughing as i drove past..
