Hi all, well after seeing a fellow enthusiast (Steve) was getting 400rwkw's out of a BA with standard rods and using toluene. I thought that this required a further look. Well I found this article with a simple google search. What I look for in any literature is a well documented reference list before I take any notice. And this certainly is the case with this particular article. My critque of the piece is that it has been well researched, and that the testimonials are consistant, thus suggesting that the hypothesis is correct

People have been using Toluene to increase the combustible energy of normal pump fuel for quite a while now, so it definitely has merit.

A member that used to be fairly active on here named Groper was mixing his own Toluene fuel and getting Dave (blueboost) to tune it with good results, try searching for his posts and you may find a bit more real life experiences :spoton:

Is that from Caltex or United Mr_4.0? And why do you say it's crap? Inconsistent?. I was considering tuning my GT-R on United E85 but I'm not too sure if it's worth it.

Toluene is good from the point of view if you add 20% it wont change the fueling requirements of the engine much and you can run more boost. I use to run 20% over 20 years ago as an insurance but after a while began to realise I didnt need it cause couldnt get the turbo 202 to detonate at 500+ rwhp anyway so I stopped using it. If you build/modify a turbo system good you may not need it for 400rwkw.
