Do you know whether the rods are forged or not? Do you know whether the rods are forged or not?Hay XYZ & Paulie , I to believed that the bottom end had to be done to support 400+ safely , something I was considering doing down the track . Had a very interesting 30min talk with a well known tuner from Melbourne and he sweared black and blue that there was absolutely no difference between the fg xr6t and the f6 fg xr6t bottom end , they are identical . ( This shop has built and turned over 4000 xr6t & f6s from BA to FG ) . This is defiantly something I would like to get a definitive answer for .. 1 Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/79744-450kw-asking-too-much-on-standard-internals/page/2/#findComment-1223998 Share on other sites

Pistons were Mahle. Can't comment on the FG XR6T internals, as I am only going off what we pulled out of mine. The f6 had forged pistons but the rods were the same as the xr's . I have herd this from my tuner here in Bris who has a f6 , this car has also featured in street fords . I guess the question is are guys spending lots of $ on there fg's doing bottom ends , even buying short motors , when there really is no need to ( perhaps just doing pistons ) ?. Or is it a only a matter of time before all the guys with f6's going over 400+ start seeing bent rods ?. A broken ring land/hole in the piston/bent rod will not normally terminate the engine. For those that don't have a clue about what to watch out for, they will continue driving an engine regardless of what noises are coming out of it but in but many cases you can catch a bent rod or stuffed piston before any damage to the block occurs. Usually its just a slight wonky idle that says something is amis. .Just do the oil pump and see. If you are in Brisbane, speak to Clinton from Profile Auto Sports he has built a few motors now including mine. He should be able to tell you the difference between the two.. Its just hard to no what to do and the path to take when one tuner will say one thing and another will say something else . ( In Bris mate , Redcliffe ) .
