Hey guys I have a bf2 xrt and the previous owner has fitted a k&n pod filter where the airbox originally sits.

The airbox has been thrown out and all snorkels are also missing.

The pod is secured so passed a rwc, however after doing research on here people's opinion are against pod filters that are unboxed.

I'm not too worried about power gains, but is it safe to run with a pod filter with no box and no direct air intake?

Is it worth the money to buy a standard airbox/typhoon box? Or will leaving it as is be fine?

I'm more concerned about blowing the motor, rather than power levels.

Thanks,

Nathan

You won't blow the motor.

My only concern with be engine bay heat heating up the pod filter potentially reducing performance.

Maybe also consider an oil catch can in the engine bay to catch oil vapour build up on the filter.

If too much oil gets into the air intake, this would be the only potential for engine failure I see.

Or just clean the pod filter regularly.

You will not hurt the motor at all don't listen to anyone on here they have no clue the only thing having an un boxed pod is that the car will suck in the hot air when stopped at the lights and when it gets hot it will feel very laggy

it is possible to hurt the motor based on how much timing is set to be pulled out based on IAT, most if set up correctly will just loose power

Just get as you said another airbox standard or f6 an unclosed pod is probably costing you power over a standard airbox with the cold air feed the previous owner would have just done this for more noise so if you like the sound get an f6 airbox as its louder then the standard one because of the 2nd air feed
