Oh yeh a few light coats to start, and towards the end I got a little heavier.

When I pulled the tape (standard masking tape) I made sure I pulled it back on it self.

Great, thanks for the advice mate. Can't wait to get it done on the car!

Cheers,

Dan

Trying to get an idea of what the gloss coating turns out like on black.

How much glossier is it then normal?

I just did my wheels on the weekend in black with the glossifier, comes out like a satin finish, maybe with a bit more shine, but does take away the matte look.

Nothing like a full gloss paint finish though.

I bought a can of Plastidip smoke today and thought I'd share some of the results with you guys.

The plan was to tint the headlights/tail lights and maybe hit some chrome as I read that it changes it to a brushed aluminum look. I have a few pictures of the chrome/smoke and the tail light/smoke.

Ended up looking a little too much like cop-bait for my liking so I removed the garnish and the light smoke - Very easy to remove too thankfully :spoton: Ended up being very 'cloudy' - not as clear and 'tinted' as I had hoped for. About 5-6 light coats used.

(Last pic is half chrome garnish/half smoke for reference)

Cheers,

Dan

Did 6 coats per rim of matte black and then 3 coats of gloss. I'm very happy with the way they turned out, but I'm not sure if I should do the panda eyes black to match.

Anyway, awesome stuff to use! Seriously easy and comes up a treat :spoton:

looks mint.....im jealous, I really wanted a white f6. I'm thinking of doing the same on my rims, I'm getting bored with the look of them......not sure how the car will look overall with matt twisties against the silver on the car....How many cans did you go through??.... you said you did 6 coats per rim.

Hi mate,

I did 5-6 light-ish coats per rim with 2-3 of gloss. I think I used 2 cans of gloss and 4 cans of matte black when I did it mate.

Trust me - If you're going to do it; Do it right. Thin plastidip is a nightmare to remove...
