anyone compared the size of a focus to a family car such as a VL commodore, or a mondeo to a 90's magna or camry?

small cars are getting bigger all the time, our falcons are getting bigge and heavier all the time, there comes a point in time when fleet and the masses don't need the falcons or commodores. chack the sales figures and best selling cars from the last 5 years.

sure I'd love an alloy block direct injection 4.0L inline 6, but can ford really justify the r&d on it?

Yeah I was going to note on the size of a Focus.

If we go back 10 years, the small car was the festiva/Focus, the mid was the Mondeo and the large the falcon.

These days the small is the fiesta, mid is the focus/mondeo and large still falcon

The focus has grown quite a bit in size

An aluminium block for the inline might change that though. Quicker warm up time I believe.

they really need to make this happen!!!

its what the japs have been doing for ages, small engine in big car with turbo to make up for the small cc, its smart and its only bogans who think there is no subsitute for cubes....theres a point where there is just to much hp for the street, if you could tune one of these to 300kw, it would be a weapon. look at the upsides compared to the downside, sure you wont make 500kw with it like you could with 4ltr but rego will be cheaper will use less fuel, will handle slightly better having less weight at the front...

just look at the top secret supra, they removed the 2jz and put in 3sgte with insane hp...

The standard falcon is 200 kegs heavier than the standard supra. The top secret supra is gutted and full of lightweight race parts and panels. The 3S in it is tune to within a pussy whisker of destruction. I don't see the value in this comparison.

well then ill put it this way, why have a tiny 4ltr 6cyl when you could have a 5ltr v8? why have a 5ltr v8 when you could have a 6ltr v8 or a 7ltr?? sure you can make 1000hp with 4ltr but you could make 2000hp with a 6ltr. the point is for the average person is they dont want mega hp, if you could have a stock xr6 turbo and have to pay 6cly rego and more fuel and more weight or you could have a 4cly with the same kw and less weight less money and less fuel for the average everyday person then the 4cly would be the winner I think...my point with the supra was there are reasons why people down size motors. 2jz is tuff and can make a million hp but 1000hp in a track car that doesnt handle would be stupid, I think the 3s is like 600ish and all the weight is more central, it was done like that for a reason in the same way there could be good reasons to have a 2ltr turbo falcon, just think if you could have a seq turbo setup on it and have your 300kw 2lr and still have low down power from a smaller turbo, sure you prob wont see any 10second 2ltr falcons but 14s are doable in a na ba falcon so im sure high 13s would be doable in a boosted 2ltr falcon last time I checked 13s street car wasnt to shabby
