I posted this in a separate topic as it has more to do with marketing than the engine but it got locked...

Basically, dealers consider that Ford's crap marketing has more to do with the lacklustre sales than the fuel efficieny of the I6 engine.

I got an email from Ford about that FF. Looks like a good deal for anyone who was after a Falcon but didn't want the sporty looks of the XR6.

It looks like the reviews are pretty good for the 4 cylinder. Which is a good thing.

Does anyone know how well the gas Falcon is selling? I think if they can't sell the gas falcon they will struggle to sell the ecoboost.

yer in vic dun matter how many cylinders you have, same cost. so maybe leave this out of the discussion.

what a dumb retarded comment....remind me when the world started to revolve around vic?

and its more then just being eco because its a small motor, its direct injection, alloy motor etc. sure the real world fuel figures might not live upto what they say but then the real world figures for the other motors prob dont either...

I dont get why everyone has to be a hater. if you dont like it dont buy it. it could be worse they could have put a sr20det in it;)

bmw had a 1.5ltr 4 banger with 5.5bar of boost that making 1300hp in the 80s

Too many years of bad marketing, bad management, lack lustre customer service, inherent faults, coupled with over priced and often hopeless servicing are coming home to roost for Ford I think. The company has become a bloody joke. I bought a million dollars worth of FPVs Falcons and Focus's for my company between 2005 and 2009 and now the only new Ford I will ever drive is from AVIS, I can't be bothered with them as a company. I rented a series 2 FG XR6 a month ago in Vic and drove it from Melbourne to Bright. It was nice on the road, effortless to drive, but it had a cheap el plastico feel about it, like everything would break at any moment. As for the 4cyl, too little, too late me thinks. :focus:

Go buy an Audi A4 2.0 Turbo. 6 Speed manual gearbox, brilliant mileage, and quality after sales service and support. Yes it's smaller than the Falcon but it is bloody roomy for its size.

Ah k, so they must've thought "hang on. Qld people get rego cheaper the less and less cylinders the car has. Let's go with that. Only one state. But let's go with a 4cyl just to suit them."

You should ask yourself...remind me when the world started to revolve around qld?

:sleepystuff:

I doubt ecolpi are selling well due to rising gas prices. Last the old man heard from managers, sales weren't the best..

I can see the eco boost working out better than most think. People just don't like the old falcon with usually a 6cyl and nowadays a turbo. Down to a wee little 4cyl. Don't judge a book by its cover ;) take one for a drive then give it a belting if you don't like it..

Going by ABS figures Qld registrations account for 21%. http://www.abs.gov.a...@.nsf/mf/9309.0

So it's still a relevant point, minor but still valid.

Regardless...tone down the bitchiness please ladies. :gfight:
