Next to my 300rwkw XR6T in the driveway sits a VW with a 1.2L direct injection, variable vane turbo engine in it and I can tell you that it's a great car to drive! I love the thing!I'll be very surprised if the ecoboost isn't a much more punchier car to drive than the common I6. As we know turbo cars are nice torquey cars to drive (just like my little VW). That's what makes these things fun.Pazzo, I see what your saying about sales. Here's the question for you though... What would you suggest they do?Ford knows the Falcon is copping a hiding in sales. You clearly know that too and so do we. They HAVE to try something and the ecoboost sounds like a smart move. The inline 6 engine IS going to die. It's not going to be able to keep up with the emission regs and alternatives need to be sourced. I honestly believe the Falcon is going to die before well before the decade is out. The motoring industry as a whole is heading for dark times. If they think the shift to more economical cars was hard to deal with wait until we have to shift to alternative fuels. That will be a HUGE change. Oil will run out and before it runs out the price will be ridiculous. I actually feel sorry for our kids and their kids. It's going to be a tough world to live in. As others have said, you present the argument of lower fuel costs for very close to the same performance to the average buyer then they are going to really consider it (Personally I see it as trying to compete with the 4cyl Camry). When my parents go out to buy a car they are WAY more concerned with ongoing running costs rather than if it can do the 0-100 sprint faster than the guy in the car next to them Where everything for ford really falls down is the marketing side of things. How many average people on the street even know about these options for the Falcon. Hell, how many of these people even WANT to buy a falcon ? Expensive Daewoo absolutely smack the pants off Ford when it comes to promoting their products. So many people out there who aren't loyal to one brand or another would take the Late model camira any day because Expensive Daewoo nail them with advertisements saying how good they are.Although I think the concept is a great idea I think they should have released the engine with a new model. Then the marketing teams could have gone nuts with the propaganda to promote the new platform and could have marketed all the pretty "Green" numbers while keeping a nice little * down in the bottom saying "For ecoboost engine only" (Even though I know that the new platform is not due out for at least another 3 years if at all). I recon the Turbo 4 will feel pretty reasonable for a base model car when coupled with the ZF, plenty of gears to keep in on torque.

It's a valid point for the other states.

The previous state labor govt absolutely farked it and everything else pretty much in QLD. We are the dearest in the land now for rego I believe. The arseholes even made utes dearer than sedans 'cause all the 'wealthy' tradies can afford it. Suck poo - they've got 6 seats left statewide now, lol. They are awesome on fuel.

Just the fact the car has "4" cylinders may in itself be enough for them to consider it as an option, especially one as big, comfortable and nice to drive. Cost of ownership for most people comes down to perceived fuel efficency. Not much else..
