the air goes from outside of car to the turbo in like a second. then through cooler to throttle body in like another second. no time to heat up from engine bay temps. only the turbo will cook the air, that's what an intercooler is for.

Staino true, although, as I'm sure you are aware the greater the compression of air (boost pressure), the higher the air temperature also. Cheers

im not sure I understand. a tune alone would net a much greater increase in power than smoothing some rough edges in the oem crossover.

if you want to do this as an experiment and for the satisfaction of gaining the most you can without any external mods then fair enough.

go for it!

You are splitting hairs here. Whether your crossover pipe is shiny, black, pink or blue it aint gonna make a difference. The crossover design is flawed for performance work but for emissions is fine and I suspect is the reason why they keep it.

That convoluted piping in the engine bay does heat up the air, as to how much just put a few temp sensors around and you will find out. If you think cleaning up the crossover is gonna make a different, it aint. Spend time elsewhere.

I agree that the crossover placement and colour, do indicate that it is an attempt to increase intake temps for emission controls. But if I can reduce the impact of the crossover on intake temps then surely that's a good thing. Further, do you have any further susgestions that don't involve changing stock items, Cheers

Lol. These mods you are attempting would net no more gain than putting the windows up while driving. As mentioned you're better off spending time on other stuff, like threads on here about future mods you'll do :) Save up for some mods then get some more power out of it dude

get a better cooler than the monza, a few reputable mobs do a cooler you can use with stock crossover.

get a good hotside pipe and under battery pipe - cannot be seen so will look stock

I personally preferred my stock crossover and airbox setup, it's quieter and still went 11.0 on e85 @ 16psi
