Hey fellas the exhaust on the f6 is well you cant hear it at all virtually wondering if removing the cat like you did on the xr6 works on the f6 ??

Also heard you can make the turbo whined louder by getting rid of the silencer ?? if someone can explains would be appreciated.

I'm guessing you're referring to the centre muffler as the F6 doesn't currently come with 2 cats as yet. Removing any muffler from an exhaust system is going to make the car louder so if that's what you would like then that's an option you can go with. I wouldn't suggest removing the cat due to EPA regulations and also the need to tune the car but doing this would also make the car louder.

As for turbo spool noise I'd suggest trying a different filter and replacing the intake muffler (silencer) elbow with a plain pipe elbow. If you want extreme spool then I'd suggest a battery relocation and short intake pipe with pod filter.

Hi mate,

I have an F6 and have done both of these mods.

The silencer replacement does not do much at all for spool noise, and I wouldn't bother with it. Apparently the growler box makes a decent difference, but it's expensive.

Regarding the center muffler removal:

I did this on my BA XR6T previously, and it sounded great. On the FG F6, I replaced the centre muffler section with a single 3" pipe with no muffler (removing the twin pipe section). This sounded way too loud for the street, so I went back to the exhaust shop and got them to put a hot dog in. It now sounds good, but not quite as good as the BA XR6T with centre muffler removed in my opinion.

I wonder if sticking with the twin pipes would have sounded different...

I hope this helps.

Jake.
