So for the past few months I have had this whine in the audio system but only when the audio is switched to Aux in(ipod included) no matter be it the ipod plug or the audio jack into the aux in I still makes this whine, went to ford today they replaced the ipod cable and it changed 2/5th's of f**k all. One other interesting thing is that the left speakers sometimes cut out or go quiet and come back to life when I take off from a set of lights.

Can anyone give some insights into this, the only changes I have made to the car are twin fuel pumps (audio problem was not there after I installed this and 2x Rockford Fosgate splits in the rear, I have disconnected these speakers and the issue is still there. Ford said some BS about it not being the audio unit itself. So my question is has anyone else experienced this and what was the resolution. Its an FG ute and non-premium sound.

Any ideas would be great. It feels like a loose connection somewhere but I would have no idea where to start looking. Really starting to annoy me.

I get the whine in my car as well when it's on AUX and I have my iPhone on charge at the same time. According to Dre the whine in his F6 was way worse than the one I get in my BF T. I honestly think its a ford thing, like something hasNt been wired up properly.

The whine in Dre's car ended up owning it.

These cars have quite bad ground loop feedback. Used to get it in my car until I fitted the boosted AUX kit. That's in a BF though, so a completely different system to the FG.

Any whine through an aux system is usually to do with power being near the source cable and the source cable not be shielded. But being it hasnt always been there and the fading issue it seems not icc related.

Ford said its my twin surge tank setup, which is BS cause it never did it when I installed it almost a year ago. Nope no whine at all when the ignition is on, only when the car is going. I dont understand why, but I am going digging today to see what I can find.

There definately is a ground loop problem and it is related with the icc and sadly the whole car but is amplified by the engine/alternator. I replaced my alternator a few years ago after months of fault finding and it still did not fix my bad whine through the system on my BA falcon. The end result for me was that with everything unplugged from the icc it is the icc that has the most horrendous whine in its electrics and with anything plugged into it (speakers, dvd, antenna etc) it just amplifies that noise ten fold!

Whilst fault finding I have redone every earth in the car, double earthed the battery and replaced the engine strap as well as double earth from the alternator to chassis and battery.

The only thing I have not checked on the engine is a filter of some sort that sits in the middle of and underneath the intake plenum, I have heard this has kown to cause problems but doubt this is the cause of all the problems. I would just say that some cars are worse than others and that when engine/computer wires are run through the icc that this can cause chaos. My car is prob the worst example I have seen of this problem as my nephews same 03 model xr6 has nil problems in general except for the usual aux noise and my second hand 08 f6x has nil probs whatsoever and my mates standard stereo 09 fg xr6t has no probs either!

I am in the process of trying to sell my car to and this can be a deal breaker to some so if you have the problem in your car that extra earthing can not rid then I suggest that you do not- Move the battery, install aftermarket amps or HU as these will just amplify your problems.

Mate sounds to me like the car is haunted I'm no professional but, for a small cash fee of $1000 I can try and banish the spirit. No guarantee's anything will happen but, I will be able to give you one hell of a story of why the problem is still there as I learned the technique off a ford top tech bullsh*tter at a certain dealership.

alternator noise through audio devices will happen when they share the same earth, sometimes unavoidable with loom type wiring
