Hi Folks,

I just had my first 15,000km Service, at a local Ford place in Canberra ACT, where I bought the car from.

and wanted to know what people are paying for standard servicing?

This service cost me $360 when I asked why so much, the guy told me its because its a turbo, and they have to tighten up the manifold bolts.

I said I thought this was a bit much to tighten up a bolt, he laughed and said they also change the oil and filter.

Is this normal?

Thanks.

Don't they normally change the oil and filter when they do a 15,000km service? Sounds like he is saying this is something out of the ordinary. Unless they are talking about your turbo inline oil filter?

all xr6t's have exhaust and intake manifold bolts tightened as part of every service, on an fg its easier but still involves intake pipe and heat shield removal to get at all the exhaust bolts properly, you would be getting capped price servicing and 360 sounds about right

yer mate 360 is correct price, I was given the same, its capped price service. I also said why $360 to change oil and a filter. he just ahh well that's just the price.

but if your read the capped price book info you actually get road side assistance for 12 months!!! that's what I was told, I never read the book.

I dunno what its like to service a T cause I drive an N/A but if that's Ford in Mitchell, ACT they have always been sh*t blokes and tried to rip me off when I'v had things checked there. I would find out what needs to be done and try do as much as you can that won't void warranty and just get them to do the rest.

They would never do the filter in the turbo feed line as half the time ford themselves dont even know its there. that's something you must sort out yourself.
