And do they work or can they be configured to work with your factory remote fob??Also When I was looking at the new FG ford utes last month, I was told that the hard lids now come with remote locking that works with your doors. Can this later upgrade be retro fitted to an earlier series FG ute?? Or am I wasting my time and I should swap out the factory lid for a flat top lid with central locking??I've got a FG12/09 pursuit ute with the bulge lid and the spoiler, which I'm assuming is the factory ford lid (EGR)but the hard lid is manual locked with a flimsy little key. Since I'm going to be carrying around a fair amount of tools etc in the tray, I really need something quite secure.Cheers Aj

I dont really want to have to change the hard lid over just to have it remote locked.I'm more interested in the full remote actuator type, both lock and lift, like from these guys http://www.autoremotehardlid.com.au/Default.aspxI'm going to shoot them off an email and see if they make something for us blue oval guys. The other little niche is whether the ute tray has any type of sensors in it to work with the factory alarm as well. Even just a reed switch or something so that if someone manages to finally break inside the tray ,then the alarm goes off. Bit more investigating I think to see what can be done.Good ol ford didnt want a bar of it, Eg an aftermarket supplier or accessory company they use for dealer extras. Got the palm off " Just ring fpv mate, they should have something that will work".

Loewe Member 10 Member For: 14y 3m 3d Posted 03/04/12 04:24 AM Author Share Posted 03/04/12 04:24 AM Thanks for the info guys, I dont think it's going to be a quick solution as I'll have to get power and trigger wires from the cabin and up into the rear of the tray, then some sort of locking kit, plus I've just started to notice that I've got this god awful squeaking now happening while driving. It just plain squeaks the entire drive, the bigger the bumps the more it squeaks. I think the hardlid is rubbing on the top of the tray, all I know is that its bloody annoying. The factory hardlid locks seem to lock the tray but not with enough force to hold the hardlid nice and tight against the tray. Think I'm going to have to spend a small fortune and get these remote hydraulic actuators so that when it fully closes, the hydraulic actuators hold the hardlid tightly in place.I tried a small amount of silicon spray but stopped once I realised it will turn into a mess over time. Getting wiring to the tray isnt hard you can pass it through existing holes from the cab just have to remove some trim to get access. The hydraulic actuators would be pretty awesome if say setup on a sedan key with the boot pop button to use it.
