Ok Guys, I know the question has probably been asked a thousand times but take it easy on me, I'm new :)

Proud owner of an fg turbo ute, and I'm looking to do some work on my exhaust to give it a nicer note! What does everyone recommed? I've been looking at the 3.5inch turbo back system from x force, but fairly expensive.

Is it worth going a full turbo back or catback?? I don't want to go too over the top or I'll end up modding wastgate's and all sorts not to mention money on a tune!

Any advice on a system you've had good experiences with would be great. Also, a good place to buy in the sydney area for a good price??

Cheers

If you get a bigger dump you will need a tune to make sure you dont boost spike and get it limping. If you purely want sound, get just the cat back, shouldnt need a tune, not to say you shouldnt get the AFR's checked on a dyno just to be safe. But if you want some performance for your $$ Get the full system but if you dont want drone or too loud either go the twin 2.5inch xforce in stainless from the turbo back with a 4" dump and high flow cat or a Single 3.5" from the turbo back with 4" dump and get some quiet muflers

Hey mate, well I went to my local guy and got given 2 more reasonably priced options. Either a single 3 inch turbo back system or a twin 2.5ich stainless from cat back only. For virtually the same price, and a lot cheaper that a 3.5inch system too!!!

Probably go with the right through option, just saving the cash!! :)

Yes I believe so. Dont go for anything below 3.5-4''. If youre just after a "nice note" then you you're going to be disappointed. Take our advice and save for a proper exhaust and a tune.

Have a look at those packages. I feel you're much more worth while either spending your budget on something other than a "nice note" and saving that little bit extra and get it done right!

These guys are a bit pricey but have a great history and I have always been extremely happy with how they have dealt with me and my cars. There are a bunch of quality tuners out there that offer similar things.

I don't mean to be disrespectful to "the local guy" but there are so many good tuners out there that will be happy to recommend a path to go down. I can assure you after spending X amount on your exhaust, you will have to replace it eventually if you want to go any further with mods. So essentially it will be a waste of money.

My car runs http://www.herrodmotorsport.com.au/HerrodPerformanceProducts/ExhaustSystems/FGUteStainlessSteelCatBack/tabid/210/Default.aspx which is mated up to a 4'' dump. It only sounds "ok" because the car is pushing a bit of power but that system alone is horrible and is similar I would suggest to what you have been recommend.

I hope I haven't shat all over your dreams but I like to pass on info I know I would love to have had when I first started with these cars.

Good luck.

Don't be silly mate, thanks for the advice!!! Will definitely take it on board and get something done properly...

Nothing worse than watching people make the same mistakes you've made in the past.

Thanks fellas :)
