Hey guys,

As a first time owner I don't know too much about the previous models & their ins & outs.

I've found the traction control on my FG MkII ute to be quite intrusive. It doesn't let me kick out the rear at all really. Turn it off every time I get in the car now, then drive around with my heart in my mouth. I have a mate that has a MkI, and he assures me that his traction control lets him get quite tail happy. Anyone know if the software in the MkII has been changed from the MkI?

Theres no point in having tc if your cars gonna get tail happy.. Is his tuned? I turn tc off everytime I jump in the car,, remember you control the accelerator not the car

There has to be a way to set it to be off all the time instead of always on when starting the car. this should be available in the menu's and not require us to get a tune done, too basically turn it off.

It pisses me off so much. I have to turn it off all the time. it makes your fuel consumption go up as well when it is on.

I don't see it worth while getting a custom tune just so I can turn it off. I ain't gonna get any mods done to the car any time soon either.

I do know that when the traction control is on and I floor it around a corner, that the arse does let go and then it just brings it back in smoothly. that is what it is designed for. but it does make you look pro like you know what you are doing. especially when you know that if the traction control was off, you would be losing it completely. lol

Gettin sideways with tc on makes ya look like a f*ckwitt when it kicks in on my fg1.

Wheels just stop spinning mid slide and looks like you pussied out and got off it. Car just stops sliding and body rolls left and right.

Just keep turnin it off, nothin else you can do.

Traction control in my BA was violent. Threw me around like a rag doll. Now it's tuned it's great it will try and control you a bit but if you keep nailing it, it will turn itself off.

I found the traction control intervention in my FG 1 to be quite good for street use. It allowed some wheel slip and the car to step sideways a small amount but still allow good power to be applied to propel the car forward. Obviously if I was aiming to drift or power slide the car up the road then I would turn it off but for all other applications I found it good. I've had it even save me once or twice in the wet in third gear when I wasn't expecting loss of traction. At the track is another story though, I had to turn it off to be able to lap at better times and found it to be to intrusive. I think one thing that can affect how intrusive the traction control is is the quality and grip of your tyres. The worse your tyres are the more intrusive the TC going to be, as expected.

My BA on the otherhand was atrocious, it would intervene quite badly and prevent any sort of power to be applied to the wheels which would make it very difficult to get the car moving out into a small gap in traffic.

My new FG 2 I will have to report on when it arrives this week.

Benny.

Ive got a 03 ba and my traction control gets upset if the wheels spin while its on and the little orange light stays on and I cant switch it off until I switch the car off, plus after its had its moment and the orange lights on the traction control doesnt work at all, dont know if anyone else has experienced this but think its pretty dumb for example if the road was slippery and the wheels spun when you didnt want them to, after you had your moment you have to pull over, switch the car off, start it again just so you can switch it on or off again
