Hey guys, its time to change my front rotors on my f6 (4 piston) brembos

im just wondering which rotors you would choose and why? I have decided to run the ferodo ds2500 pads, but not sure if its worth the extra $300 for the 5000 series over the 4000?

the car will be fitted with braided brake lines, and 5.1 fluid and will be tracked 1-2 a year, other than that it is a weekend car.

thanks

4000's are fine, unless you track the car quite a bit. I've had the 4000's and 5000's. 5000's noticeably lighter and being unsprung weight that is compounded. Biggest benefit I found though is they dont chew through front wheel bearings like the 4000's did. Heat is not transferred as much through the alloy centre hat. I also go through one set of front rotors every year, so changing just the rotors is a bit cheaper (I think....may be wrong!)

That said, if I wasn't taking my car regularly to the circuit, I'd save $$ and buy the 4000's. On the road, there is no difference.

The 5000 are 2 piece and are less prone to warping. I suggest getting those but slotted only ,not drilled.

thanks for the input guys, I also noticed my wheel bearings are getting noisy after only 45000 easy km's (from new) so ill do them at the same time. The weight benefit and heat transfer might just lead me to pay the extra for the 5000's. Especially if I decide to keep the car long term

As noted in previous posts, lower unsprung mass, lower steering inertia, much lower heat transfer to the wheel bearings and the resistance of the two piece alloy hat configuration to coning are all good reasons to go with the 5000's.

Also consider that the ongoing cost of the 5000's (disc only replacement) is significantly lower than the initial investment in the two piece assembly.

Anyone who goes through two sets of discs a year may as well go with the best.

They should be a hoot with the braided lines.

As arronm said make sure that you only get slotted, DBA are great discs but the drilled and slotted click and rattle and it will drive you crazy. I kept a set on the front for 200ks, replaced them with Brembo dics and gave the DBAs away free to needy home just to get rid of the noise.
