Long story short my stock exhaust is farked. Combination of possible blocked cat damage and rust increasing back pressure (after cat changed to a new one)

If I'm going to go to the trouble of changing it I'd rather get a higher flowing one say 350rwkw. I'm not doing it for noise or a 'great note' because I believe such a thing doesn't exist for this motor. I'd consider a custom job if someone can nominate some good straight through mufflers

If you want 1 off custom to your requirements, you will not do any better than seeing Barney at Hallam exhausts, make sure you talk to Barney and mention that I sent you down

I know you said long story short mate but given the factory system is S/S, rust shouldn't be an issue. If you can confirm what actually failed you may only need to swap the cat or maybe a muffler.

I considered an x-force 3.5" full system for my car and be done with it. Trouble with that though, it most likely would've caused boost creep and I didn't want to spend $800 doing a turbo mod on the little huffer.

So if keeping the stock dump, I'd weld in a 100cpsi cat and buy the manta 2.5" twin catback. They're better quality than x-force (who don't do a catback) and will cost you a $1,000. It will easily support the power you're chasing without the need to mod the turbo. They do actually make the things sound half decent also, lol. Good luck with it.

no need to do waste gate mods on the little fg xr6 turbo as it can't flow enough to start with boost control doesn't become an issue with a decent exhaust

Bel's G6ET would run a minimum of 16 psi in the midrange with 0 duty cycle commanded to the wastegate solenoid with the Nizpro 4" exhaust fitted, this figure jumped to nearly 18 with a Stainless" Turbo side air intake, the port does need to be modified to run lower or controlled boost with a big exhaust and free flowing intake side.

The Turbo itself does not flow enought though to maintain high boost in the top end

With my Xforce 3.5" turbo back my boost was spiking up to 18psi(sometimes more) before trailing right back at the top end. After the waste gate mod this was bought back and is able to be held at 15psi(still does trail off a little at the top end). Still using the factory CAI though so this probably has some effect up the top end getting enough air in?
