So on Sunday I decided to go for a squirt down the great ocean rd. 10km out of Lorne I could here my car had a slight miss. As I tried to bring it on boost it got worse and wouldn't make power. Then I could start to smell fuel so I pulled over and the car just stalled.

Had a look around and couldn't find anything wrong except the smell of fuel and white smoke coming out the back.

Got the old man to tow me home so I could have a look at the car. Every cylinder has spark, fuel and compression but there is one cylinder that doesn't run at all. When I checked cylinders 5 and 6, both spark plugs had fuel on them.

As the turbo spools down it sounds the tiniest bit rough like something has let go. Also noticed when I pulled the heat shield off that between the turbo, manifold and exhaust flanges there is fuel and oil coming out. Also a bit coming out between the manifold and head on cylinder 6.

Got no idea what the problem is at this stage but I'll start pulling the turbo and head off to see what I can find.

Anyone got any idea's? Also thought it could be an electrical fault that is causing the engine not to run properly but with all fuel around the turbo and the white smoke out the back I think it's something a lot more serious.

Headgasket has blown, that's your white smoke, steam. But why, it appears that something has failed to lunch headgasket. Unfortunately there may be a bent rod or two. That would equal detonation. Fingers crossed for you. Cheers

How much white smoke? Like a puff under WOT or constantly?

All my turbo cars have spewed a bit of white smoke from time to time when I put the foot down and never had any serious issues.

Best to just take it to a shop mate. They will tell you pretty quickly.

I hope it isn't major though.

Yeah I'm thing a blade off the exhaust wheel of the turbo might have broken off and I reckon the head gaskets gone too.

Pretty serious amount of white smoke. A bit comes out on idle and then a big cloud when you touch the throttle.

sure you have good compression?

sounds like #5 or 6 rod or rings has damage
