Hi guys first post on here just after some oppinions.. Currently own a pretty tidy modified Vlt that I have had for a while now and finally got it somewhere near where I want it (for now). I am at the point now where I am looking for a ute for a daily driver.. I am 24 and just about to finish my electrical apprenticeship.

I have my eye on a 2007 BF,6t ute zf, owned by an older guy 70000kms. $17000. I like the bf because of the good gearbox, easy power potential and still retaining reliability to a point. Also the comfort..

Wanting a ute so I can throw the bike and other crap in the back and something that will be able to tow the vl to the strip every now and then.. Whatever I have no plans on selling the vlt..

I will need to finance about 12k for the BF which I plan on paying off as quick as I can (Never had a loan before so this is what worries me the most even though I can meet the repayments)

Anyway just after oppinions on going the BF 6t, or going for something older-cheaper?..

Cheers

Ian

If I were to start all over again I would have bought a BF mk2 2007. I have the BF mk1 with the weaker rods.

I should ask.. do you plan to modify the ford at all or leave it stock?

Hi mate, The ford has a full 3inch exhaust on it aswell. The only things I really would like to do is the usual injectors, tune kind of thing for around the 400hp mark. But I would like to keep it standard for a while..

400hp at the rears I'd recommend full good flowing exhaust/cats, intercooler, inj and fuel pump. That's what I did on mine to get 425rwhp.

Pic of VL?

An 07' should have the F6 bottom end so should be strong enough for your rwhp requirements + any itch you want to scratch down the track. Finance will give you a credit rating for you when you want to buy a house down the track.

I thought a 3" would flow less than 2x 2.25's anyway what SteveR said is what I would look at doing too you'll make 400hp pretty easy then.

In all seriousness though it never hurts to check out what mods ppl are doing in the 300kw and 400kw threads incase you want to push a little further..always costs more to do it bit by bit or say tune by tune.

Cheers for the replies guys. That is true about the credit rating also. Probably best to do this while I'm young and still just paying board at home. Will let you guys know when/if I pick it up..

Only other cars I'm looking at are. the 2005-2008 2wd sr V6 hilux's. Things that I do like about them, 3seats, bit more ground clearence, probably abit more practicle and not really any mod bugs to bite. Prices seem to be 13-$16000. 100000+km's

all the mod cons like power windows, ac etc. But obviously no where near as comfy or sporty as the xr..

The only time the 3 seats are handy is when doing downhill mtb, 2 people can ride one can drive..

Xr6t, Very comfy, Power, but also low, very easy to get more power (Not sure if that's a good thing for whats suppose to be an everyday car) + I guess I have the vl for a *fun* car
