Spark Plug & Service Advice

Hi All,

I've recently purchased a very well looked after BF MKII XR6T, sitting on 280+kw and it's time for a service. The normal crowd who service it are quite a distance from where I live,so I have no choice but to take it to the local dealer.

So to my question...

Note: I have spent the last 30 minutes on the site searching for an answer to my spark plug question but this model of plug is rarely talked about so be nice please mods!

Does anyone run 6 x BKR6EIX-11 plugs with a reduction in gapping to 0.9mm?

Reason I ask?

Currerntly it has Copper Nickel plugs, which the specialists have advised me they are due to be replaced and they have moved their plug applications from Copper Nickel across to the NGK BKR6EIX-11 or the Autolight conversion for the street-tuned and race cars.

After doing a little research on NGK's website, they consider the Iridium plugs a super metal plug which should't be re-gapped as the tip will break easily? Furthermore, the NGK website advise the BKR6EIX-P for the Barra T engine (Platnium plug I guess) and also advises a gapping of 0.9mm.

So I am a tad confused, looking for re-assurance I guess. Will the BKR6EIX-11 plug be fine with a gapping to 0.9mm (running the risk of a tip break) and NGK are advising don't re-gap to protect themselves... or this is quite common and you're all doing this?

Just order a set of BKR6EIX-P instead. They are pre gapped 0.9mm.

I just put BKR6EIX Irridium spark plugs in my tuned BAII xr6t (they come pregapped at 0.8mm), as it started missing under load last week it fixed it right up now and idles really smooth too.

Note. The above part number doesn't have any -11 or -P after it.
