I would like to see both the APS and the Nizpro cars run well this evening and I hope they have a chance to do so given the weather. It is Victoria after all :spit: (I like to get my Queensland slander in there wherever possible  )

Yes it may have rained on us this Friday, but we've got next Friday, and we had last Friday, and come to think of it, we have EVERY Friday here in Victoria to go racin' :spit:

How often do they let you in up there to race?

And I've seen the rain in QLD and you guys have no business ragging us about our 'shower' from up there in monsoon country!

See all you Vic's on Friday night for the APS v Nizpro showdown  and they can let the cars do the talkin'.

Yeh Yeh OK

We clear the 'roos off the tarmac occasionally for a quick squeeze between the cyclones but, boy you guys fire up when we rag you about your weather ;) Mind you, we have the Gold Coast's famous female beach attractions with our weather

It's just I wont be down next week so all I (and the other half the country) get next week is pics

As per Falchoon's comment I am interested in the ways the interceptor can be wired.

I have seen how it is done near the box under the bonnet, but hbehind the dash sounds much more stealth and far more appealing.

Your thoughts please

Falchoon and CraigH,

The Unichip is supplied with a long computer loom that visually matches the stock ECU wiring loom. The Unichip loom permits the installer to locate the Unichip computer inside the cabin and out of sight. At the stock ECU it’s hard to pick that it is anything but completely stock. We prefer to install the Unichip computer inside the cabin because it is more stealth like and makes it easier for the tuner to plug in his lap top – to tune in real time on the dyno from the driver’s seat. The PHASE I web page has been updated with pictures showing the loom and ECU. See http://www.airpowersystems.com.au/falcon/phase_i.htm

Initially, we needed to satisfy ourselves that the Unichip computer would pass the under bonnet heat tests, hence that’s where the Unichip was installed. We do however prefer installation of the Unichip computer inside the cabin for stealth and ease of real time programming.

The additional wire you mentioned was probably an earth wire. These Fords have poor earthing.

We also have some exciting developments under way. In the first quarter of 2004, we will release plug-in loom adaptor for the Unichip ECU. The development of the plug-in loom is a monumental exercise in terms of sourcing the right male/female connectors, PC board and construction of the loom. Nevertheless, we are committed to the project as I strongly believe that our customers wishes need to be addressed.

This means that there will be no cutting, splicing or soldering of the stock wiring loom. It will make installation a breeze since the computer will simply plug straight in. In addition, removal of the Unichip becomes a very simple affair. Just unplug and the engine management is returned back to condition – for when you sell the car you can recover your investment.

The Unichip plug-in loom adaptor will be offered to existing PHASE I Unichip customers at a special price.

I hope this answers your questions.

Peter just wondering if it was possible to run two diffrent maps with the unichip? Would be handy when leaving car for servicing.

Allso you mentioned that you learnt alot about the injectors on your outing to calder, will this affect the current kits? Good to see that you are developing an adapter for the harness this is a much wanted feature by many. Keep up the good work , good luck at calder

TURBO4LT (I like your name),

The Unichip can utilise two different ignition maps now for either LPG or NOS applications and we have used these second ignition maps on many cars over the past five years. It works perfectly with NOS as when you hit the NOS switch, the Unichip automatically switches to the second ignition map, which has safer ignition advance timing to suit the NOS air/fuel mixtures. When you come off the NOS, the Unichip again automatically switches back to optimum map for premium-unleaded fuel. We don’t currently have Valet mode though this will definitely come in the future along with many other features which I won’t go into right now.

The injectors won’t affect our current PHASE II Systems as we utilise the latest multiple orifice style Bosch injectors – all be it at a premium price over cheaper older style model pintle style injectors.

It is worth knowing that there are some horrible pintle style non-genuine Bosch injectors being sold around Australia to XR6 Turbo owners. We tested a number of these injectors and were shocked to see how poor the spray pattern was – and how inconsistent the fuel flow was injector to injector :beerchug: Not good for a powerful turbocharged engine and could definitely cause a lean condition on one cylinder – and we all know the end result of lean mixtures. Burnt valves and damaged pistons. So buyer beware when it comes to injector purchase, particularly when at high power levels. :fart:

The plug in loom will be a big step forward and make engine enhancements quicker and therefore less expensive. It also keeps our competitors on their toes. Let’s hope for a 10 second pass at Calder this Friday. :beerchug:

Thanks Peter

The question wa smore about stealth fitment and where you tapped the harness as doing it near the factory computer it is easily seen...(to a trained eye)

However the harness plug option is fantastic.

Will make my decision on that alone.

Could remove it at will by removing the harness plugs and no visible sign on system mod.

Will be watching for availability in new year.

(strange...I seem to recall typing this yesterday)

Thanks
