Rhino,

There is a full thread around here on flashing these cars and whether Ford can see if it's been done. Best bet is to get the car and put a few thousand kays on it to make sure everything is ok and then go visit a reputable tuner. Don't be scared just be smart about about your mods and who tunes it.

Yeah man you hit the nail on the head there. I've learnt more about the car in the three days since I ordered it than I knew before I did!

And Benny to start with I'll chuck a K&N in and maybe a BOV. I would like to get a flash tune but am concerned about warranty. When you flash them back to normal is there any way the dealer/servicer knows you have been flashed so that you can restore it each time before it goes in for servicing?

Cheers boys

Something I found when flashing back to factory is if your plugs have been set to 0.8 she won't want to run well at idle, if at all. I had that problem, asked CV about it and they said if I wanted to flash back to factory it'd be best to reset the plugs to the standard gap size, which isn't quite as simple as just flashing the ECU.

What do you think of these?

I'm not afraid to mod, I just read through that thread you mentioned and there still seems to be no definitive answer. If I modded I wouldn't expect ford to pay for something that screwed up as a result of modding, but if I got a tear in my seat say, I wouldn't want them to dishonour the warranty because of an engine mod. The only concensus seems to be that they cannot void the entire warranty if the car is modded.

Cheers boys

Im fairly certain Ford will honour warranty issues that are not a direct result of you modding something. Its a known fact ford know that the BFs have been flashed or not (theres a counter or something) so im sure ford would have kept that feature for their boys to save some money by denying claims. Theres an old saying "You Play, You Pay!"

Theres not too much you can do really without copping it when something goes wrong. Mostly engine and exhaust mods will require a tune so no go there, if you change the wheels dont expect then to come to the party for wheel bearings and then to try BS you about brake and suspension issues being a result etc. If you can put things back to stock then shouldn't be a problem, xr8 intake, k&n filter etc. But even with the filter installed they will knock back a running claim. Some dealers will give you the benefit of the doubt, but best bet is to ask about anything before you do it or be able to put it back to stock without damaging bolts etc.
