I'm a newbie, just signed up today, bought a BF Mk1 in vibe with a ZF at the start of the month. I upgraded from an EA series 2 S pac with 324k on the clock. So I am enjoying having a car that was made after 1990. Picked the car up for $26 drive away which I reckon was a pretty good deal, apparently it was an ex telstra car and has just on 43k on it. Has anyone heard of any probs with ex telstra cars? Now I can hold my head up around my mates as one bought a BA Mk2 T a couple of weeks before and another's got a BF Mk1 Super Pursuit trayback, love that ute but think I prefer mine. Anyways I am looking forward to doing a few upgrades once the warranty finishes, on that note can someone tell me where I'd go on the sunny coast for mods? Parts and servicing, as I am gradually finding, is a bit steep to get that "german driving experience.I've been impressed with the BA onwards falcons, especially when my boss got an XR6 BF 6spd auto. Very impressed with the handling, the interior and surprisingly good economy. Also the reasonable insurance premiums, cheap parts and tuff engine is a huge plus.My previous rides are pretty shameful, modded Excel, VC Late model camira 4cyl, 86 Corolla sedan and other 70s corollas. My only highlight was a supercharged AE86 toyota sprinter track car. I was planning to get a Mark 5 GTI Golf but have found the boot too small for prams. So the Falcon fits the bill. Wife is a bit shocked, thinking that Falcons are too common and perceived to be "bogan" cars. OH well. I am in a dilemma. Should I get a manual 6spd XR6 turbo or the auto? Is there much difference between the 4spd and 6spd auto which warrants the big price difference? I actually prefer the look of the BA over the fussier BF front bumper and wheels. Any help appreciated. Also, what is the difference between "premium" sound and the standard one? I am used to a nice stereo in the golf with its standard 8 speakers system.Hey DUB83R,You couldnt be more right, they do have a very tough engine and very decent handling. However the good fuel economy stops at the XR6 N/A model, unless of coarse your doing alot of highway km's. I get about 9.7 L P/100 Highway, and about 15.5 around town and I consider myself a conservative driver. I have a BA MK1 XR6T 4SP Auto, I find that it performs really well and even though I dont have the premium sound package (to my knowledge), I often get alot of compliments about how clear the sound is, I actually dont really know how much better you could want it to be, I am 20 and I do love my music, but I have no complaints about the sound quality at all. My dads car has the premium sound and although there is a mild difference its only when you pump the volume right up (2000 dBs haha). The 6sp manual came in the MK11 BA's (onwards) and it would be my advice to get the MK11 Model. MK1 manual is only 5sp and there have been alot of complaints about its clunky-ness. As for the difference between the auto and manual I'd say its really up to what you prefere to drive, however if you do alot of city driving I'd recommend the Auto as you can also use the Sequencial shift if ever you want that manual feeling, its not the greatest subtitute but still abit of fun.hope that was helpful, any questions dont hesitate to ask.Lukus

squidlips Member 28 Member For: 16y 4m 16d Gender: Male Location: Adelaide Posted 29/09/08 01:35 PM Share Posted 29/09/08 01:35 PM Hi All,I've had a FG XR6T for nearly a month now, getting used to the set up and loving it. Our flett manager is a ford man so I was able to test drive a T when they first came out and also the GT 315 among other cars and the T was certainly the complete package. A few other V8 diehards at work are as impressed with the forced induction option!I ended up getting it in Ego with leather, sound, reverse camera, safety pack, tech pack and tint.We have an F6 coming into work for a day's test drive next week, cant wait.Apart from just driving and enjoying the car this site is great way to find out about what you can do with a 6T.Cheers
