heys new to the forums, used to own a VL turbo but had to sell buy my (now wife) her engagement ring, Kind of like the idea of buying something new that's turbo'd, that's why ive decided to buy a XR6 TURBO. Any recommendations on which year/model I should start looking for & what not to buy, Cheers Dan

Depends on your price range matey.. Alot of cheap BA's around but you've gotta keep in mind they are coming up on being a 10 year old car.. Personally I'd recommend BF Mk II or FG if the budget allows..

OK, as Brenno suggested, go for a BF MkII or an FG.

The FG is newer, more powerful, safer, etc. but a lot of people think the BF's look 'tougher' so it all depends. 30K will definitely get you in to an FG though.

BF MK II and Mod money.. Or FG.. Depends what you want out of it mate.. I'm a big fan of the FG interior.. and the BF looks.. However age of the car was my big deciding factor.. I don't like owning cars over 5 years old.. Personal quirk..

Each one is a different animal.. For that money though you could also consider a BF MKII Typhoon.. Again a completely different car.. Least you can also afford to be picky.. Look at many and choose the best for the dollars.. Pre-purchase inspection by a mechanic or whatever automobile club in your area (RACV/Q or equivalent) is also a great idea..

I would go the FG myself even though I like the look of the BF better because all the bushes, gearbox etc and other things are getting old on mine and I can see it turning into a money pit (more so) and my power requirements are right where the FG is at with minor mods (300 to 320rwkw) and the spool up is quicker. I see FG's around at the same price as the BF's were last year now.

with that kind of money you could get a typhoon there going cheap now and could prolly find a nice bf phoon with a little change to play with.

yeh im with brenno, bf mk ii with the better internals. fg's are getting at a good price too, if u could wait it out till about march next year the new model fg 2 comes out so prices of fg 1 and b-series will drop. give u money left over with an fg to do mods. u wont be disappointed with the ford over the vlt :P

good luck with it mate and make sure u keep us informed n pics wen u get her! :buttrock:
