Cheers although looking at insurance premiums is a bit of a bitch! Im 24 (in a week or so) and am a rating 1 with AAMI and the premium is about 2300 untill 25 when it drops to $1200 or so

I think I could handle the large insurance for a nice powerful car :D

All I have to do now is to work out finances :(

Mate that's rubbish.. Im rating one with Shannons, started with them when I was 23 (now 24) and I paid $1500 last year, full comp, with a few mods listed (rims, stereo, lowered, cooler etc..) This year was a bit cheaper.. I'd give them a ring for a quote. AAMI dont like mods too..

AAMI always had a policy of not insuring these things for under 25s, so I'd say it's either a mistake on a few counts or they've changed their policy from 'reject' to 'rip them off and hope they don't realise'

just about to purchase my first turbo - 2004 BA XR6 Turbo low km's serviced every 5000km at nizpro in bayswater Melbs has had a bit of work - converted to a 6 speed from 5 currently generates 600hp 14psi. Am currently like a freakin kid at christmas cannot wait !! and already have mods I'd like to do. Feel the bug has hit me ever since I saw the car and sat in it and felt just how much power it has.

Looking forward to joining in on some cruises meeting some new and interesting people.

I think they may have changed there policy, I'm 24 and had a minor at fault accident a couple of years ago and they insured me for $810 a year, I tried a couple of different places but they were all $1200+. I'm up in QLD so I dunno if it varies between states or what.

Yeah I'm pretty happy with it, considering it's only like an extra $50 a year over the NA XR6 price I was quoted. I would have thought RACQ would've given me a better deal, considering I've been with them since I first got my licence, but the best they could offer was about$1200 and that was with a discount. So it pays to shop around.

Ive had my '67 Falcon insured with Shannons for 5 years, no claims and im 24 turning 25 in 15 days, Shannons wouldnt let me insure the xr6t unless it was parked in a locked garage, no exceptions!!! I have the T insured through Justcars for $918 a year parked on the street in the middle of Hobart (only have the one rented garage for the older more expensive falcon ) but the excess for the T is $2500!!! I Phoned them and asked why so much and they told me that this is the case for anyone under the age of, wait for it..........50!!!!!! I couldnt believe it, so just hoping if anything happens to the T ist worth more that 2.5K
