Hmm could be oil then. It looks like some kind of scorching from direct heat. If you had an orange sleeve over the top then the orange sleeve would look much worse . You should bee able to feel it and tell if its scorched or smooth or squeeze it and see if there is oil inside.

yea I know what you mean it feels and looks burnt but is that from hot oil leaking into the clear sleeve? the orange cover looks fine... I have emailed some photos to the mob I bought it off and they will get back to me but they said they will most likely just replace it but this time I will make sure its with screw fittings.

I know its been burnt but im wondering why? due to hot oil leaking, has anyone else seen a burnt one like this???

Yes ours burnt like this before we had a sleeve protecting it. Without examining it fully its hard to say but my opinion is it isnt leaking oil. The lines that terminate near the turbo should not be clear coated. Easy fixed though , just remove 4 to 6 inches of the clear sleeve with a Stanly knife. Be careful not to cut the wire braid, or you fingers. Then put the orange sleeve back on. But if you can get it replaced. ask for the screw type and then remove the clear.

I really doubt the heat of the oil would burn it, heat off the turbo is much more likely to be the problem. If anything I think the oil would cool it!

Just because the orange stuff isn't burnt, doesn't mean the stuff underneath wont.

The orange stuff is tolerant to higher temps, it just cant protect the plastic sheath inside enough to stop it burning.

Go for a 20min drive, don't flog it even. Then see how hot your turbo is, only gets worse the heavier ya right foot gets.

Heard back on the replacement yet?

Ive got the same line as this and it is going brown along both lines, worst at the turbo end but looks to be coming from all the crimps. I'm definitely replacing it, one day, when I can be bothered. Probably wait till the dry season when its not bullsh*t hot.

These braided hoses are simply not suited for this job. Sure it looks pretty all nicely braided with the anodised blue filter and certainly boy racers eyes sparkle when they see it. You need steel tube for the turbo oil supply line, you could put a more easily assessable filter on the existing line and avoid all the stupid hassles going on in this thread. If its a clean engine you dont even need a filter.
