Well after pressing the clutch in and the air cond turning off in the Nizpro car I thought I better investigate.

So I found the earls kit that had done approx 2000ks had started to leak oil at the crimp fitting as it entered the oil filter.

The oil had ran down the inside of the clear outer sleeve and as the line had rubbed on the water line and had holed, the oil dripped down onto the air cond connection.

The above pic shows the crimp that failed and started to leak

The above pic shows the area in the clear sleeve that rubbed through allowing the oil to escape

The above pic shows how I installed my line on my F6. The oil line that failed was ran on top of the water line and rubbed through the clear sleeve at the bottom.

We have now seen may of these crimped lines fail , especially adjacent to the turbo.

Do not order these crimp style.

gee that sucks, and yer you can clearly see the clear coat on it wow.

this is a good heads up for others wondering about what line kit to look for as people are not sure what type of line to avoid.

are you going to order another earls kit? whats the go from here as im sure others are in the same situation?

Yep getting a new one under warranty but with the normal screw fittings

We have seen these fail not long after they introduced them as I have posted several times, Earls swear I was the only one seeing issues, they did replace the affected ones under warranty for me as some of my customers here know, but they still said they were not having issues. They now will do the original style hose and screw type fittings at an extra cost

yer sorry mick forgot to mention you found this problem a while ago with this crimp style fitting.

so is having a clear coat on them ok or normal for braided lines?

The fg's filter is probably 4 times as big as the previous ones, but I guess over time if enough sludge forms in the motor then yes they can fail

No worries mate, not looking for credit or anything, just confirming what has been posted is not a one off.

The clear coated lines in conjunction with the crimped fittings are the problem and I thing that any hose using the screw type fittings requires the original style hose, not the coated hose
