Mind you the girl who ran through the costs of the dealer options was hot, but I still didn't get it done there. :blush3:

Vuv 240T,

of course she was hot...I think the dealers assume that a bloke will have trouble saying no to a hottie... ha

paint protection

apolstery protection

alarm

tints

mats

scuff plates

tow pack

...

the list could go on :) think with your big heads boyz

for the record, my salesman threw the tint and mats in for free...

one other question...seeing as though the brake light in the rear window is not used due to the brake light in the rear spoiler...I saw a CITRIC XR6 N/A the other day witht he full window tinted, ie: the rear window brake light was tinted over and hadn't had the tint cut to fit...looked good.

Don't forget to check if your getting the non-metallic film for the back windscreen, unless you like picking static on your radio.

I actually asked for Metallic tints. No problem with radio at all. Even AM is fine.

Half way to Canberra I loose Sydney radio for 20kms, then switch over to Canberra radio. Pretty good I reckon.

Had mine done by the dealer, yes the girl was hot but I had it done pre delivery as it is a work ute and time off the road is money. Whoever did it did a great job though.

If you're going to get it done at the time of the deal - haggle over the price.

What you ideally want to do is get the car tinted with the 'good' film not a 'trade' film... Trade films typically have a bugger all warranty and while many are reasonable these days it's a bit of a lucky dip.

It would seem that paying around $300 is about right for a BA sedan with a top line non-metallic (radio friendly) film.

So whent he dealership offers you the tint for $500+ (it was $660 when I got a quote through my lease company) haggle it down and stipulate the tint that is to be used. Make sure the BRAND and TYPE of the tint are specified on your contract, make sure you get a warranty card from the place that did the tinting. If you don't get all this they can substitute the tint for the cheapest possible trade film, betting on the tint only having to last 2-3years (especially if you have a lease) and it's more pure profit.

Like most non-Factory accessories these things are a rort. Huge margins, mostly done by outside contract companies who get screwed down on price/quality to keep the dealers margin up.

Some examples asides from tint.

Remote control to factory central locking (plus additional immob).

Dealer=$550

Alarm place = $180

'Protection Pack' (Paint, Fabric, underbody etc)

Dealer= $900+

Detailing mob = $300

The interesting thing with these packs is they usually have a 'reapplication' clause, ie every 6 or 12 months they need to be 'checked and done again' for a much much lower cost... Don't do it and 'voila' that wonderful warranty goes missing. Strangely you don't get told that when signing for them....

Hi All

I,m sure if you did a search on window tinting you would find many comments including my own on what type of film is most suitable for the BA.

We charge $295 to $325 for premium quality film eg EMINM 35 or 3M CS 35. Dealers often pay as little as $145 for their cars.

Just remember you only get what you pay for.

Good Luck
