I was taking the piss. All good I've found a solution in way of a new shaft that has been cryoed and shot peened for a total price that is a 1/3 of the nizpro jobby. And from what I understand only about 5% weaker than the Billet so perfect for my power level and budget.

Are you going to build it this time or just replacing the input shaft?

just to add to this Ricky dos'nt have the ZF changes at the time when I was tuning it, the stategy wasn't avaible & the only reason he snaped his intermediate shaft was that we went to a 3.45 diff ratio from his std ratio & indoing that ricky explored a new level of fun doing power slides in 6 gear which when changing the ratio moved his power band further through up through the gears... & I will not use the ZF option with Ricky's box...there's a few ppl here know my thoughts on this !!

Matt's reason was that the box developed a hicup from 3rd back to 2nd then back to 3rd on WOT & this happend within miliseconds, the car had my tune but not my ZF changes & just recently this other failure happen from a stand still going into second.. we are cryoing & shot peining the shaft for this install but I'm hoping that he takes my advice & not worry about the ZF tuning...

Althought the Nizpro shaft seems quite expensive (I am sure he uses gold in there somewhere), considering they have had no failures as yet and the time and expense of replacing a failed stock shaft, it is probalby more cost effective.

I dont care what shot peening or cryo treatment you give a shaft it aint gonna do much. Its the metallurgy and hot treatment that the shaft gets that gives it strength.

Dave and Simon at Nizpro both agree not to change too much in the ZF file and definitely don't recommend tuning without a stronger input shaft.

Has anybody broken a cryo freezer/shotpeened shaft as of yet? if anybody it would be Ricky I assume?

How much is a cryo treated shaft if you don't mind me asking?

So found out my clutches need replacing in 2nd and 3rd gear, apart from that the gearbox is fine.

Kewish suggested a larger tranz cooler also

How much should I be paying all up?

well this is not true to an extent...it all depends on how the shafts are treated from factory as you are aware that the gear box componets ony have to meet a certain power level & not to the extreems that there made to go..... so treating these shafts will always make them better, how much better will depend on how well they are from there original treatment..

Ricky dos'nt have harden shafts the input & intermediate shafts are still factory.... its all in the settings
