I may be wrong haha.

All it does is cool the pressurized air between the turbo and throttle body.

Same thing but much hotter when from your turbo! Hot air = bad for engine performance. This is the "heat soak" you will read about if you fail to fit a good cooler when you get car tuned, the cooler can't dissipate the heat well enough after one or two runs.A CAI upgrade is replacing the factory CAI with one that can get more/cooler air into the airbox (then to turbo compressor). I've seen filters sticking out the bonnet hahaha. Can't get much fresher than that. Exposed pod filters in the engine bay on the other hand will suck in warm engine bay air and can reduce performance due to the heat.Of course you don't want your intake exposed to rain... either by being out the bonnet (as above) or too low so it gets drowned when you drive through a puddle as happened to Grug the submariner here in WA somewhat recently. It is found on FPV F6's and can be fitted to your original air box which thus adds a 2nd air intake, can be found on ebay for like $70 and fitted yourself, then add a K&N panel filter, and makes for a decent upgrade.Link: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FORD-BA-BF-F6-typhoon-secondary-air-intake-snorkle-/350533394466?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item519d6b2022#ht_1206wt_1314
