Im going through this atm. And to be quite honest I looked at that motor but for the money you can get a brand new fg f6 short motor for under 3gs. Ill be throwing new atomic timing gear and and valve springs and atomic oil pump. Might as well for insurance while its apart. I cant imagine a bf sump would be too much from a wrecker and just make sure your head is in good nick

They will give you a fpv short block. Engine parts shouldn't be vin restricted. The dealer is just being a *beep*.

Although my head is in good nick still so I dont need to replace it. Yours will just depend on if urs blowing up caused any damage to your head.Atomic oil pump (think my recirc valve may be cracked)Atomic 12mm head studsAtomic gasket kit (including performance head gasket)Atomic valve springs (still had standard ones)Cam Chain tensioner (from ford although probably should have got it from atomic)Cam chain Guides (from ford also)Atomic HD Cam ChainAtomic HD Main Sprocket,You may not need the timing chain and guides and etc but mines done 75k so I figure I may aswell change it all out now while it apart for piece of mind. If my heads are fine they will go straight onto the short engine? If my heads are buggered whats my best next step? Sorry about all the questions guys.. Im currently trying to find a decent mechanic up here but seem most of them are full on for the next few months and cant help out to much... 1600dave Donating Members 872 Member For: 14y 22d Posted 01/03/12 06:45 AM Share Posted 01/03/12 06:45 AM Seems pretty expensive! People seem to throw figures of $2900ish around a bit.Call around a bunch of dealers, Fords prices vary heaps from dealer to dealer. See if they'll freight it, or take the cheapest price back to your local Ford see if they'll come close to it.Yes use your BF sump. needs minor modifications I believe for the FG block to fit (engine mount I think) All new gaskets too. Worth putting on an atomic oil pump while its apart.Heaps of threads on using the FG F6 short.Try these guys should be able to answer your questions or point ya in the right direction...http://www.auto-dyno.com.au/contact_us/index.php

My car goes in on Monday.. Fingers crossed the head is good.. If it is it will be a FG F6 short going in if head is buggered.. back to the drawing board to think of my next step... possibly buy the F6 short still and get a head through Atomic.. or buy the BF MK II engine off ebay and a rebuild kit from Atomic and get all that fitted...
