Ok well so after the issue of having my turbo die due to a clogged oil line/filter its now at precision turbo's at whetheral park. My question is that ive asked to get a quote of upgrading the comp cover to a a/r .7 plus a bigger comp wheel. So would you A: Just rebuild the turbo and I was thinking of doing a TB exhaust or B: Upgrade turbo and install a 4" intake kit to suit the new comp cover size. Would love to do both but the funds arnt there, also having standard BA internals doesnt help in the way that I dont want to spend too much and soon after a rod lets go then im f**ked for money.

Cheers Leo

How much power are you aiming for? A factory turbo would be good for 400rwkw but those rods aren't going to last much more than the power you're making now.

Well look im happy with the power it has now and im surprised it has lasted as long as it has. Just thinking I dont want keep putting it on the dyno every time I do something. I was told doing an exhaust would lower boost too.

Why are you surprised it's lasted this long?

Mines hit 420kw with the standard turbo.

As long as you're not sailing too close to the wind with timing and afr's I don't see why it should blow.

If you had an electronic boost controller you could adjust the power yourself to an extent.

Just my 2c :)

New bigger cover will introduce more lag won't it?

Maybe just upgrade front wheel with stock front cover?

How much power do you want? If its well within the stock turbos capabilities why waste money upgrading it?

Yeah, it has similar internals to mine right? What's the "blueprint" in your sig mean?

If I were in your shoes I would go the exhaust if given the choice, but I would go twin 2.5" this time to keep the noise down a bit.

I find the boost controller keeps the boost nice and even with no spiking. After I fitted a gauge I was surprised how differently the boost behaved in the real world as opposed to on the dyno. I think many engine/rod failures would be due to overboost.

Blueprint is the colour of my XR, I was also leaning towards an exhaust as I dont think I'll even see 400rwkw. Lol at wasting money 1600dave
