Backmarker Member 46 Member For: 14y 7m 24d Gender: Male Location: Dubbo Posted 24/02/12 11:21 PM Share Posted 24/02/12 11:21 PM Yarra Valley has their Heavy Duty box rated at 1000HP also and it has 4 speeds. If going for a glide, I would want one that could handle more power than any other box to make it worthwhile. Otherwise a box with the same strength rating and more gears would be much nicer to drive. Even if it is only driven occasionally. But the glide would still be better than stripping drums in a BTR 4 speed like I have been doing. The reliability and strength would be great to have, no matter how many gears it has. I hope you end up liking the Glide set-up. Let us all know. Cheers.

I wont go any further until I get a built motor. Ive ran a glide in most my cars and there a very nice box (worked) of course. On the street the only difference you will find in a glide is that you will be using a little more fuel. driver comfort is fine unless having more gears gives you a hard on or something lol. there are glides and then there are glides, the converter is the main part of it all, ive seen so many glides in turbo cars that are way to high for there own good. its a very fine line with glides and turbos due to getting the right time for the glide to hook up just before boost kicks in ... Im simply after a box that can give me reliability at the track day in day out with trans brake option, and from experience a glide is the way to go. It'll be reverse pattern, transbraked, engine braking, upgraded 1800hp sprag plate & all the stuff to handle a 2t 1000 plus rwhp car with a tce built converter, full hardy spicers tailshaft, carbon ceramic clutched lsd, billet axles, all nolathane bushing in the std cradle.Reason for the change over going down the big zf route is its untested, still expensive & after going in a properly setup up big box/turbo setup I honestly believe it's more streetable than the zf. Only downside might be a few more revs on the highway but otherwise it has no downside
