Xr6's Paint Changing Colour?

Hi guys

Something weird I noticed today: my ego-coloured (I.e. "black") XR6 has two small-ish stripes on the driver's door. These stripes look "greyish". I tried rubbing it off but it won't come off. The paint has, apparently, changed colour on these two particular spots. It's not really noticable unless looked at closely. I have never heard of a car's paint changing colour. What's happening? My car is left out in the blistering sun for most of the day. Could that be what's causing the discolouration? However, It's odd that both stripes are on the driver's side... Has my neighbour put turps or something like that on my car to cause such a thing? (I live in unit and we share a car port, and my neighbour is suspect.)

I would really appreciate some insight into this. I don't want my car to receive any more marks like the two I already have.

Thank you.

Is the clear coat nice and smooth still? If it is, its probably just the fact that Ford put very thin paint on our cars, and its probably just the way the metallic has sat down unfortunately.

Could it be that you have never seen the car under that lighting from that angle before? Or is it definitely something new which has only recently happened?

The BA's in mercury silver were very bad for this, and when you saw them in direct sun they were very patchy and appeared to have stripes running down/across the car.

Even at work, silver cars are tricky to paint and to get the metallic to lay down nice and flat. You have to know how to paint them properly to have a nice even finish across the whole panel.

Hey, thanks for the reply, man. Yes, the clear coat is still nice and smooth. The thing is I'm not driving a BA; it's a 2010 FG. And yes, these two discolourations are DEFINITELY new. I inspect my car daily for scratches, chips, etc., so I know what any new ugly mark on my car. (It's in very good condition, so I'm very fussy about any imperfections and hate having any new chip or scratch appearing on the car's body.) I don't understand it. The car is now 19 months old and all of sudden today these two discolourations appear.

Do you think later on that more marks such as those will appear on my car? I just find it strange that the marks are both on the driver's side. My neighbour has easy access to the driver's side of my FG...
