Hey guys I have a T5 gearbox and my clutch is starting to let go so I wanna upgrade it to a malwood option 3+. I am eventually going to throw in a T56 conversion once I save up enough $ and I would like to know can I put in a nice strong beefy clutch now into the T5 then in a few months when money permits can I use that same clutch setup for the T56???

Thanks guys :)

Any advice appreciated

As far as I know the mal wood opt3 will not fit in the t5 box. I'm in the same boat. My t5 clutch was slipping so I've put in the t56 ready for once I get enough money for a nice clutch :/

There was also the possibility of the t5 munching itself because of a stronger clutch so I figured it was the better option doing the box first and selling the t5 while it's actually worth something.

Cheers Dave, do u think it's best I ring Malwood? So your current clutch from the old T5 is compatible with your new t56??

I think you may have put me onto something here :) box first then clutch...

How much did u pay for your new box? And where from? I'm on the market for one!!

Yeah the t5 clutch fits fine without any mods.

I actually fitted the box on Saturday to be honest haha.

I got my t56 from a forum member for 2200 bucks with everything needed except oil basically ex a super pursuit with 60kms. Was a very lucky find though!

6 speed clutch wont fit the t5 mate, save your rear off for the box upgrade and baby the car, mine slipped for a long time before I finally fixed it, I couldnt afford the t56 so threw an exedy hd clutch in.

Take the car back too Simons and get him to pull some midrange torque out of it. Either baby the shit out of it or get some super slippery rear tyres.

Get the T56 and clutch ASAP as your T5 will fail you at the most Inconvenient moment

Aarrrgghhhh! Options... options... Haha

Malwood quoted me $3890 for a full T56 conversion kit (brand new gearbox) then $1800 for a suitable clutch.

Does this seem reasonable to u guys? Or anybody done it cheaper? Without compromising quality of course :)

Oh and $285 for all this to be delivered to Perth..

Talk to west racing developments in Osborne park and get them to price up the T56 conversion. BTW - for general road use and occasionally drag with mods up to a lazy 320RWKW, the option 3 or 3+ clutch kit is really good. Yes, I know it is not a super wonderful twin plate and all that BUT, it is dead quiet with stuff all pedal pressure plus, if it ever needs re-lining, its cheap.

The other possible is Walliston Wreckers near Lesmurdie. They get a few Turbo's and you might be able to get what you need that way.
