Hi All,

First post, just joined but have admired the site and it's content for a long time. Anyway thought I'd just ease on in with a non controversial topic such as this. Regarding the styling particularly the bonnet centre peice I have to agree with a previous post from LOK11 about the "Shaker" this would have been way out there when released and look at the icon status it receives now. Anyway I think that the bonnet feature will grow on people (yeah like mould I hear you say) and offer just another unique feature, the rest of the car looks brilliant no contest. Just my Opinion however. Once again great site, with from what I can tell some good people with some spirited passion for great cars. Keep up the good work.

Regards

KATO

:thumbsup: Kato,any relation to Daijiro

How much change would you have if you bought a XR8(you can get one for under 50k)put a large blower on it,custom body kit,big brakes and suspension upgrade

Just seems 90k is over the top :hohoho: although I would like one in my garage

:santa2::santa2: :festive:

I wonder how much it would be to mod the interior like the djr... Check out the pic, it looks f*%kin awesome... I would probable spend 10k to get it looking like this.

Also, it looks like it has the standard audio unit it. Correct me if I'm wrong... I find this a little odd if it is the standard unit...

:thumbsup:

Also, I just saw on the DJR website this is available in the XR6T also at 320kW... Only one sentence reflecting anything about the T but I guess it is still a glimmer of hope. Wonder what the price would be for the DJR T?

Quote DJR:

Coming soon .....A very special range of high performance cars built by DJR in very limited numbers. The team at DJR have been working to enhance the current BA XR Falcon range to deliver an XR6 Turbo and an XR8 to 320kw spec.

Had a bit of fun down the M4 this arvo with a modified acid rush XR8 - quad pipes like the djr car, and 300 badges as well (not literally 300 badges, I mean badges of the number 300 :blush: ). Sounded sweet as it roared past as we played in the traffic (at the speed limit :smilielol:). Hello to Dave (his number plate) if you are a member or visitor here...

I like the DJR car, though I'm not too fussed on the bonnet addition. I actually would have thought that a functional cold air adaptation of the bonnet bulge would have made sense however the engine cover has done exactly what it was supposed to do;

Got people talking about it!!

What I didn't like was Geoff Polites criticism of the car (and mods) in the Sun Herald. This sort of stuff is exactly what the media prey upon and highlights the fact that FoMoCo have not been smart when it comes to using the iconic status of their legendary representatives (Johnson, Moffat et al) when it comes to selling product.

If it was GMH though........

Like it or loath it, DJR has done what the majority of ford enthusiasts would have liked the GT range to be.

I am with plonky on the execution of the bonnet modification, it does come off as tacky, but the quad pipes, nice wheels, large brakes start to give this car a difference that the boss cars scream out for. This exercise shows just how little needs to be done to achieve results that can set the car apart.

Would I buy one? No. While 60 kws above the Xr8 is a nice result thirty thousand above the GT isn’t. The 320 might have a performance advantage over the GT range but 20 k in real dollars addresses this deficit. For this reason I wouldn’t have thought FoMoCo wouldn't need to find a reason to make much of a comment.

I say congrats to DJR and Herrod for showing that there is potential in the BOSS to extract extra grunt. FPV had a 300 plus motor but drivability of that donk was said to be not as good as the 290kw unit. Twelve months on is a lot of time to experiment with engine configuration so I would be mighty disappointed if the next irritation wasn’t the starting point of the DJR benchmark assuming the DJR cars meet ADR naturally ;)

If I were to write Blue print for future FPV products, part of the DJR concept would have made a mention. But then again many on this board had made those same calls before the DJR car was known. Makes you think doesn't it!!

I've been lucky enough to see the djr 320 in person and drive it....

I've also today been fortunate enough to drool over one in the flesh at a mate's place. Was been driven by Steve Johnson, and man it sounds VEERY sweet.

And of course.....the Blueprint colour makes it that much better. :lol:
