Blem Member 11 Member For: 12y 3m 16d Posted 11/08/12 02:26 AM Share Posted 11/08/12 02:26 AM In the 245/35/zr19 the Nitto Invos come in two treadwears : the 93W = 260 and the 93Y = 220I am looking for a full 8mm tread depth tyre with around a low 200 Treadwear and the 245/35/zr19 93y looks like the way to go. The ones supplied by Taleb seem to be 93wThe question is does anyone stock them here (Taleb?)I got a price pm'd to me from Taleb about same tyre. Response from Taleb was 260 wear. Must be the W tyre. I also want/need the Y rated tyre as that's what the car is rated for. Plus its softer.Think Ozzy had it but they seem to be out of stock ? The Nittos generally performed well, the Continentals also had a lot fans however, the tyre that consistently highly performed and had the happiest fans was the Michelin Pilot Super Sports.I was astonished that with all the reviews and various forum posts the MPSS shone head and shoulders above every other tyre.It has excellent traction in the dry AND in the wet.A member from the BMW M5(V10) board had Nitto NT05s.He liked them however, as soon as he had replaced them with the MPSS he said he was amazed that the car had more body roll because of the higher grip levels.I have bought the MPSS(not yet delivered) sure they are more expensive, but I was lucky enough to be able to stretch my budget.Comments on the Invos also deemed it to be a very good tyre, some of the Corvette drivers liked the traction and how quiet they rode.A car with over 400kw atw will break traction on virtually any street tyre unless you buy a specific drag tyre and you're at the drag strip! A great number of forum posters were people that tracked their cars so some of their comments were very helpful such as tyre wall stiffness, rubber compound, balancing the tyres, problems such as "out of round" and Tyre wear was also discussed. For example, the NT05s seemed to wear a little too fast for some people's liking. and some of the Japanese brands were a little difficult to balance. What I've written barely scratches the surface of the entirety of what I have read.Again, the stock Dunlops are barely adequate in the dry let alone in the wet..........and my car is totally stock! Do you have a list of the best tyres for each budget, say if you have $100/$200/$300/$400/$500 per corner, what would you go for?

Do you have a list of the best tyres for each budget, say if you have $100/$200/$300/$400/$500 per corner, what would you go for?I would love to help out unfortunately, all those sites that I researched were in either British Pound,Euro or US prices. In addition I generally looked at the $350-$500 AUD tyres.I don't want lead people "up the garden path" If I had the Michelins on my car right now,I would love to tell the forum about them because I would've had some experience with them.I will just very briefly give a run down, I'm sorry but I can't give prices. The tyres that I mention would be to replace the stock 245/35/19 Dunflops:Pirelli P Zeros very good grip but people have complained about the high noise levels and the high wear rate.Bridgestone Potenza.Good grip levels however some commented about noise level and a harshness about the ride quality.Yokohama S drives, Very good grip levels in the dry and wet and some people commented on their rather quite ride.Hankooks (110 V10.These tyres were quite popular with the Americans >it seems that these tyres did everything well in the dry and wet, alhough some complained about the soft side wall of the tyre.Nitto NT05s.These tyres were popular with the Corvette and M5 crowds but there was some conflicting comments however ,what I did take away was that they really need to reach temperaturebefore they started to grip. Also a few complained about the average traction in the wet and noise levels.Nitto Invos .Generally they were well liked, probably more so than the NT05s because they were good in the dry and the wet.People were impressed with how quiet they rode and yet I also read 2 reviews which said they were noisy???These tyres were used by the Mustang and Corvette forum members.Dunlops Direzza Star Specs.VERY good reviews on these tyres.Very good grip in the dry and wet ....just a bit noisy. These tyres are not available in Australia(of course!!!) Dunlop assymetrical 2.These tyres have been mentioned on these forums .From all the reviews I've read they seem to be very, very good.Low noise, very good grip in the dry and wet and comfyAll of the above tyres would range from $350-$500 retail, excluding the Star SpecsAll the tyres I've read about always had some conflicting opinions and that made it very difficult for me to make up my mind.If people do research on tyres a few things need to be kept in mind.1)Make sure with any review whether from professional or forum members that the test car/s is a rwd.(relevant to our cars)2)Try to find reviews with cars of similar or more power/torque than your car.3)Make sure that you know what tyre you're after,eg the Continental DWS is an all season tyre with good grip in the dry and wet.The DS version is more so for grip in the dry.4)If you're considering semi-slicks for your daily driver they will tend to have high wear rate ,noisy, not very comfortable and maybe very, very average in the wet.5)Finally,if you are replacing the stock Dunlops make it worth your while that the new tyres will have significantly more grip. It's just futile to end up with maybe 5% -15% more grip after all the effort and money you've put in.6) Everybody knows how to use Google, try e.g "Nitto Vs Pirelli" or" Continental Vs" You can use specific tyres or simply the brand name.I found heaps and heaps of reviews by using" Vs "Just remember Australian retail prices are always higher than O/S prices. For example,In Australia a Michelin Pilot Super Sport 245/35/19 is $696(retail )a corner....bloody criminal ! I don't expect a road tyre to totally grip on the street with the power my car has, but I would like it if I couldaccelerate quicker than I can ATM. From what I have read and heard first hand from people who own them, I think the invos may be able to grip better then the NT05's!?However at this moment in time I am so confused about tyre choice, I don't know what to do :headbang2: )Timetaker thanks for your info .
