Hey people,

Just bored thinking how everybody says, "ooohh what did u get an auto for?" We all know that manual is fun for streteching the gears and revving and dumping hehe, It gets to me a little, but I get over it quite quickly once I get behind the wheel and feel the pull of the XRT hehe. Just want to know, how much are the auto drivers missing out on with times down a qtr mile? Also how many kw's are we also missing out on at the rear wheels?

Just want to get some figures about that. I'm talking stock XR6T, haven't had any funds to do anything more to it.. wont be happening for a while, but ah well life's still fun!

Don't let anyone rag you about getting an auto.

The C&V car is an auto and running 11's.

All fast drag cars run auto's.

Here we go again ...

Hey Geezer, do a search mate and you'll find heaps on this topic.

Sorry to be short but I see this as simply ANOTHER auto vs manual argument in the making.

What I suggest you do is the following:

Go and get a manual

Go and get a auto

Make sure both cars' engines were built by the same person to avoid any discrepancy.

Make sure both cars have been run in identically to avoid any discrepancy.

Make sure both cars have exactly the same amount of petrol and the same batch of petrol to avoid discrepancies.

Make sure the dragstrip you go to has both lanes identical in all ways (grip, gradient etc)

Run both cars down the strip at the same time to avoid any weather discrepancies.

Make sure both drivers used exactly the same driving technique to avoid discrepancies.

Make sure the manual gets a perfect start, and also make sure the auto gets a perfect start.

Make sure both cars are changing gears at their optimum revs.

As you can see, it is very hard to do! And in fact, if you do suceed with all the above, please post results!
