I think this will be watched by other car company's, they will see if Nissan and Mercedes do a good job then might invest them selves. I could see Toyota coming in 2014.

Yeah I was extremely surprised not to see Toyota jump on the bandwagon, especially since they are a local manufacturer and they have their finger in nearly every other Motorsport pie - a lot more being a lot lower profile than v8 supercars too!

Although with merc only just signing on, perhaps they have something in the pipeline too.

And Bathurst was won by forien cars for many years before it became a Ford/Holden thing.

1960 was a Morris

1961 was a Merc

1966 was a Morris

1985 was a Jag

1991/1992 was Nissan

every other year has been a Holden Or Ford.

60/61 was also not at the mountain but at Phillip Island where the race originally was run.

Unless you count the 2 years the Cossies won. But they were still Fords...

1966 winner Bob Holden, one of the nicest blokes you could ever meet, still races today in our Group C & A class with his original red/white escort.

The 66' winning mini was stolen back in the day & still hasn't been found.

1985 Jag - Still being raced today, worth massive coin!

Can they add extra weight in the form of heavier/stronger parts?

nope

I think the answer to this is yes, they can add weight if they choose to. All the motors will weigh the same after ballast has been added.

Spot on, every V8 supercar has a minimum weight - regardless of what lightweight bits they add. 1350 something kgs from memory.

If they are under they have to add ballast to that weight, if they are over tough titties.

It'll still be the same faces on the podium.....

I think you might be right the Dags. The cream always rises to the top.

Although the same was being said about the current F1 season.
