G'day boys . I spoke to Kev not 2 weeks ago about both stg2 & stg3 coolers kits for my FG . I didn't go for the stg3 because he told me what was involved in putting one in ( far to much cutting both metal and plastic ) so I got the stg2 .

He said that you dont need to cut anything , you also retain the same mounting points so if you want to return it to stock later that was no problem .

So my question is , Do I have to do some trimming ? ..

You do need to trim, PM kev he will email you the instal instructions for your model. Small amount of metal(very small amount)from the bottom rear of the front crash bar and trim inner protrusions off top mounts(keeping actually mounts) and trim a plastic cover that fills the gap over the stock cooler/radiator(this cover trim is optional as you can leave it off and refit later if returning to stock). But original mounts are used and can be put back to stock, you can buy the plastic cover from Ford pretty cheap(around $30 so I was told). When my PWST2 was fitted I had the plastic panel trimmed looks nice and neat.

I think it also depend on the climate you live in as to the best choice of intercooler. If you live in the cooler climates then maybe just the PWR will suffice, in the warmer areas then a Nizpro/Process West might be better, just my opinion.

Nah get a Monza. They're the coots!

Actually Rbjet, looking at those FG Autotecnica Coolers, they certainly have designed them really well for stock limits. But from a theoretic perspective they probably need another litre or so of capacity to be good on a 300 rwkw car. From my understanding one should have about 13-14 litre capacity for optimum efficiency. Also for a road car a bar and plate design appears to provide the best allround results, not tube and fin (this is more for the OP). Cheers

Ok sounds like a little bit of work but I think I will give it a go . Or might just suck it up and get someone to do it that has done plenty of them before .

I can pm you the plazmaman steps if u decide to go that way they're not that hard to fit some people make them sound hard if you have a little bit of mechanical knowledge and know how to use a die grinder or a air hacksaw its pretty simple stuff

Core and endtanks play a huge roil too, look at the plaz 700 and 1000 endtanks for example. 700 ones look horrible and 1000 ones look perfect.

Couldn't agree more Dillz , but I don't think you can go wrong with either Plaz or PW and even PWR a lot of R&D goes into all there products . So long as you are honest with yourself about how much power and the purpose of the use of your car ( Street , Drags , Dyno comps ) I think which ever way you decide to go it should all come good for you.
