Sorry to hijack Dillz but for those havin the old aged fluid conversation just put transmax z in. Wheather the experts think it will or wont work for whatever reason it quite simply does whether its in a built or std box.

I love the zf it's proven its self to be pretty reliable & is a cheap box to rebuild. It shifts how I would want a built box too especially now since its been tuned but it still has that feeling of being fragile, that might be all in my head mind you lol. I'd love to change to a manual but would be useless as a daily & frankly just slow lol.

Good on ya for the change though mate & love this green in the fg's, hopefully it treats you well & you can turn it up without too many issues.

Mate just curious, but how do you find this a cheap box to rebuild? My ZF is about to be rebuilt due to water damage and I've been quoted 4-4.5k by a reputable trans shop in Victoria using genuine ZF parts. Definitely doesn't sound cheap to me! Are you referring to that mob in WA that does em for around 2k?

genuine ZF parts are cheap as chips. Does your quote include them removing and installing the gearbox?

Robbie from mte in wa did my original rebuild & was very reasonably priced, I actually broke quite a few parts plus the normal rebuild that everyone gets and it was still thousands cheaper than what they've quoted you. In saying that I dont know what damage is caused by fluid transfer like you've suffered so its abit hard to comment. My last freshen up which included input shaft & all new clutch packs, obviously oil & filter was around or under $1500 so I'd call that a cheap rebuid, this was done though gilroys in toowoomba with some bits & pieces supplied form rob again. Feels brand new & can't wait to belt it properly & see how long we can get out of these things.

Dillz you've had the car too long without mods starting to think you might just like something hard & straight in ya left hand :)

Something to do with the water wrecking the mechtronics or something? That's the expensive part, all the info I found said that once that's gone it can't be rebuilt or it will cost more then a new gearbox.
