What would you say your typical driving style/pattern is? I.e. 10% lunatic/90% sedate - or the opposite?

I'm genuinely surprised that you have that feedback and assume that you must drive full-tilt at all times for it to behave like that...and if that's the case we don't want you tarnishing the reputation of G6ETs anyway, bloody hoon.

I tend to either drive hard or be on cruise control. Driving it hard it does give me the sh*ts sometimes, with holding gears, not going back to first when you stop, etc. but most of the time it is ok.

On cruise it is great, except for downshifting to hold speed when going downhill, where it will go back to 4th, or sometimes 3rd, at 100km's to keep you at the speed limit. Farkin annoying!

Aside from Fridays I'm pretty relaxed, if anything I usually just dordle around. Your always looking for potholes or dips in the road or waiting for an old lady or p plater to cut you off.

Thought I would throw this link up for anyone with the ZF that's looking at cheaper service options, you would require the 6HP26, Cheers

Anyone noticed the oil they're using in this? $17/L and its actually called ZF Lifeguard6... any good? (can move this post to a different thread if you want, just thought I'd get it out there)

What stupid sh*t does the ZF do around corners? It's the best behaved transmission ever put in a taxi-spec vehicle, if it's changing gears mid-corner then you're either forcing it to in manual mode or there's something wrong.

I have no qualms with people preferring a manual, I would if I wasn't living in the city, but please just don't go making sh*t up :spit:

Ok I don't want to write a massive novel so I am going to summarise it.

The things I miss about the auto are how quick and easy it is to get it off the line, the way it holds boost through gear changes puts you into the back of the seat until you let go of the throttle. Overtaking is also heaps of fun. It is a great box and suits these cars perfectly.

But that is pretty much where it ends.

- I don't like the way it automatically downshifts a split second before you do before or in the middle of a corner.

- I don't like they way the drive line is never disengaged. The clutch adds that 4th point of control

- I really don't like the fact that when down shifting you have to go through every gear before reaching the one you want. ie. Big corner coming up, you cant just change 5th to 3rd. I believe this is where it really lacks around the twisties.

- I don't like the speed of the gear changes both up and down, they are too slow.

Finally they just can't take the abuse the manual can.

I've driven and currently own both, the autos better in a straight line but to me the manual feels better in every other way.

The manual feels strong and direct where as the auto feels brittle and indecisive. The manual you can use all the gears where as the auto only a few are useful.

This is just my opinion as I have driven and currently own both.

Tried to tell you this
