so I am putting together a set of mods for my car and one of them is doing the turbo flapper/housing mod, what I am seeking info on is the general operation of them, for instance I have read that the standard actuator can handle about 12psi steady, what does it mean if I put a new actuator on there at 8psi? is that the minumum the actuator will hold boost wise? so if I was to get it tuned the minimum boost would be 8psi?

any help is greatly appreciated

some standard ones will hold 12 psi but not all, exhaust system choice, actual actuator tension etc can all have a small affect on the pressure, in theory a 8 lb actuator will only allow 8 psi as a minimum once the turbo starts making boost, it will drop boost though if the turbo is too small for the car which on a BF is not a problem

I don't think there is a definite answer mate.. but most ppl put in a 12psi who want to run 300+rwkw, but I suppose a 8 would be fine?... How much boost/power do you want to run should determine what actuator you get.. I think std actuator is 3psi?

Size of actuator will also help with tuning. For example, if you want boost to come on slower and give you a better take off and linear power you can get the 8, works well in the street.

But if you want a big kick in the guts and fry tyres on the road then get the 12. Probably get semis to help

Both are good for over 300.

Ratter, what do you usually recommend when getting the turbo done? Or is it up to the customer?

most people are better off going with the 12 for most our requests, the only 8 I have used recently was on Bels G6ET
