Hi Impellor,

I got Brad to send one of his 998GT A series motors,he was holding one for a project of mine, but he didn't want it to be sitting around, after he had done his final tune, while we were sorting the car modifications out,I said that was ok by me.The project went on hold for a while, then I pushed the Phoon a little to much, causing a ring to let go,I wasn't worried because I had the atomic motor paid for,so I rang him to send it up,because it had been sitting for a while he had used parts of it,so he had to make up another one,So after about a month it arrived.I had the local ford dealer organized to do the swap,The motor arrived strapped to a pallet, with 2 straps, and coved in plastic,I would have thought it would be on cradle of some sort, the sump plug needed repairing because it was sitting on it.Anyway the motor was installed, the cover on top was a different colour to my original one ,so they changed it,on pulling it off they noticed loose bolts on the valve springs, they done them up & told brad about them, also the sump plug & suggested it should arrive in some sort of cradle.Well I finally got the car back, and started to run in the motor for 1000kms,not goin over 90 on the highway,a couple of trips to the next towns soon had that up.Finally time to tune,a few dramas with maps, but sorted that out, we started to ramp it up,it would get up to 4800 then just drop out, checked plugs, changed the coils, installed flow matched injecters, the we started getting a couple of plugs closing up.Had a chat with dave in mackay,he couldn't work out what was going on.So the bloke at ford said there is something not right in the bottom end of the motor. So they made up a cradle & shipped the motor back to brad,2 weeks before xmas. They still have not looked at it yet, after numerous phone calls.I just wish they would hurry up,so I can lay some serious rubber.I have put off my andra licence until the car is on the road again, because I have to get another doctors certificate.I just carn't believe the bad luck I'm having,I just want to get in the phoon & goooooooooooooooo.

bolts on the valve springs??? I dont see how a motor cutting out can be a engine problem?? I would dare say something has gone through the motor to close the plugs, brad doesnt use different length rods or anything and all his pistons are the same so dont really think its your bottom end that's the drama.

Well I dont know, because he hasn't looked at it yet,its not cutting out, when its on the dyno it ramps up to 4800,but that's it,the line drops straight down,as for installing the motor, its just a case of pulling out the old & putting in the new one,I know the bloke putting it in,hes one of the best around here, don,t forget I am 1000km inland from townsville. The important part is the tuning,we had a camera in the cyclinders & nothing to see.but what I am saying is I would have expected to get the motor & just drop it in.that's why I was asking,in the earlier post.

jet - was it your engine that fell off the truck when a forklift driver stuffed up? I got one from brad just after that and the motor was in a cradle on the pallet, was told that's hot they all would be after that.
