If your planning on keeping the factory cross over I'd be removing the factory air box and putting a pod there with a custom heat shield if your set on having a go at doing something different. There's a couple of threads on here about it.

Its all good doing it yourself, good on ya.

But as a business owner I definately am thinking my time is money, you may be able to knock this up with $50 worth of material, great, but would you make them for other people for $50 or $100? I dont think so.

By the time you have spent the hours, this includes designing, thinking, driving around to get materials, any extra tools needed, factor in your hourly rate you could have been paid at work and the nice proffessional finish of the proven ss growler and bluepower boxes doesnt seem over priced at all.

Dont get me wrong though, im one of the most diy guys on here, just saying the oem kits are priced fairly. There is so much more I didnt even get into and am not going to.

Another thing is you may have 5 or 6 replicas before you do something your happy with, or you also may never even be happy with it.

I have been looking at a heap of diffrent CAI and there pretty $$$ for somthing I could make myself in my factory, so my question is , Is anyone running a custome made CAI and willing to give me some design tips?I was pretty much going to copy the ss growler just increase the size alittle bit more. Or am I just better off not being a tight ass and buying one? thanks

Maybe keep an eye out on the for sale thread, theres always an intake of some sort in there...

Yep to easy, maybe if more people start making their own they might come up with better prices.

Main reason I wanted to make my own is cause I want to be the only FG with a 3 inch turbo side.

dose machine is easy on fg - k&n panel filter, hole in front of airbox, 3 inch intake pipe replacement, more boost!
