I'd look for a BF personally.

Although assuming you're not going to mod it, all models are great as a stock family/sports car.

12k would be a good price, or you could spend about another 4-5 grand and pick up a BF with less km's and a stronger engine.

Being that old with that many km's it's probably money better spent on a newer model with less km's.

The thing is I want a Turbo and I don't think I'll be able to get a BF Turbo with a reasonable price. Also, my budget is $15,000 at most!

Does auto/manual make any difference to you?

Yeah manual BF's in Victoria aren't really within range (there aren't that many of them either - compared to the auto that is)

This one looks decent just by a computer screen glance:

much less km's, just an interesting colour :P

I checked this car out in person and it's actually an Auto. I walked away as soon as I saw it. :P

Damn online liars!

The auto's aren't actually that bad and they are driveable in manual mode, but we'll definitely not make a topic of auto v manual in this thread as there are about 1000000 of them around lol and you have clearly made your mind up on a manual :)

Any huge rush in getting the car? They pop up so often and as mentioned above another one is coming up soon, which when owned by a forum member is generally looked after well :)

I know your saying he is honest BUT to spend 12k on a mk2 with that many kms is still risky lemon or not, just think if you plan on keeping this car for a long time and run the kms up heaps its gonna be worth bugger all or you could shop around and get one with less kms, also if you are worried about issues like turbos blowing I would buy a car from a car yard which you can get warranty on and will cover you for anything that go's wrong other than wear and tear.

to me it seems you want to jump the gun and you may pay for that later on, have a gooood hard think about your options. you will make the right choice. going off the what everyone else as said its seems 70% of us think you should steer clear.

anyways great to have you on board :) and happy car shopping you will find your perfect match :danceforme:

Ok thanks guys. The question is, how do I avoid purchasing a lemon. :P

that's the $100 000 000 question . Sadly even a car you drive straight off the show room floor can be the biggest lemon out there .

If you have your heart set on this car then go over every receipt carefully , they should have a stamp or something showing where the work has been done . I would then contact the workshops and just try and find a bit out about why the work was done or hade to be done . Do all the other usual checks REVS RACV etc ,you could even say that you would like to take the car to a respected turbo tuner for a quick once over, and something else I would do is to get a small magnet and a thin piece of cloth ( so you don't scratch the car ) and run it along the lower half of all the panels , If they are full of BOG the magnet will not stick . just food for thought.

Secondly don't stop asking questions on the forum as many as you can no matter how silly you may think they are this is the place you will find the answers to your questions and one hell of a lot of experience from guys & girls who have done it all before , Take with you a piece of paper with everything you have learnt and ask the seller of car every question under the sun , if he can not answer them directly without hesitation and starts to babble on then maybe you need to think its time to walk away .

Good luck & as PRMO PANDA said welcome to the NUTHOUSE ...... :w00t2:
