Please excuse me if this is in the wrong part of the forum.I have just signed up to this forum and haven't even posted in the introduction thread yet.The reason being is I currently do not own a XR6 Turbo of any sort but am interested in buying one.I figured I would save my introduction until I make a purchase of one first.First I'll start by saying that I am a Female and I am not exactly mechanically minded.I do know some what about cars and have always owned Fords.I have currently got my eye on a 2005 BA MkII XR6 Turbo which is in pretty good condition. The damage on the car is very minor with a few stone chips - expected for a second hand car of course. As far as I looked there is no dents. The screen on the CD player looks like it has a few scuffs/light scratches on it.It seems to me that the owner has really looked after this car.My only concern about this car is that it does have high kilometres on the clock. It has about 192,000 KMs on the clock which works out to be 27,500 per year on average.I would like to know (with having such high kms) what I should be aware?I would also like to know what faults and problems these cars have and also what should have been serviced to the car to avoid me buying and then spending so much money on the car to be fixed. Here is a list of things that have been done to the car recently...* From most recent to least recent*25/11/11 - Fuel Pump replaced.31/10/11 - Front Pads and Rotors replaced. 2 new Tyres fitted.Air Filter, Fuel Filter, Oil Filter, Washer Solutn Sachet, Globe, Kit Brake Pad Front, Disc Front Brake10/06/11 - Fog Light Globe replace & Front Wipers replaced.23/09/10 - New Clutch - Disc Clutch, Plate Clutch Press, Cylinder Clutch Slvc, Brake Fluid16/07/10 - Manifold Bolts tightened and adjusted. The Turbo has also been serviced which I think was done about 10,000kms ago but am not quite sure as I didn't see a receipt for it.Is there anything else that should be done to this car before buying it?All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Find out what they mean by 'serviced' because if they just did the oil feed or anything the turbo could be about ready to go..

I did take it for a test drive and it drives nicely. If I choose to purchase this car I will get the RACV to give it a look over to make sure. I'm sure that the guy has the receipt for the serviced turbo but I didn't see it or missed it when looking through all the receipts he had.He never made an excuse for not having the receipt for the serviced turbo. I have contacted him to see if he has it.

RACV doing a pre purchase inspection is probably your best option then.. They are pretty thorough.. Good luck with your decision.. And if you decide to purchase it then "Welcome to the nuthouse"..I'm very surprised more people haven't provided feedback since you said you were female in the first post :-p

Thanks for taking notice.Well, as I said, the cars high kms are my main concern but in saying that the car seems to be well looked after. The asking price for this car is $14,500 but price is negotiable... Is this a fair price? What should I be looking at price wise considering the cars kms, services, etc. Also, what notorious problems should I be checking with this car? I will be sellimg my Ba MKii in the next few months and it is immaculate 78000ks and I will only be asking $16000 and I may struggle to get that. I'd be very concerned about the turbo and oil feed with that many kilometres. HopefullyThe rac fellas check for bearing play etc. best onluck with the purcash they are fabulous cars! Any problems they suffer from? With the KMs on this car that high what is due to die on me?
