I converted my silvia from auto to manual, no power and couldnt do anything fun with it.

Mentioning SIlvias (rubbish car, no offence intended) to Ts isnt a great comparison mate.....ha ha.

Completely forget that experience, and the guys advice on Ts will assist far more as its chalk and cheese :sungum:

and the bottom line is that the auto makes for better car, better performance, smoother, easier to drive, its basically better in everyway, except one which is FUN and pleasure to drive

Not every way. The manual is also A LOT stronger then the Auto, can't think of one manual that has broken since I've been a member of the forum where as there has been numerous auto's crap themselves. Some on completely stock cars..

Laying stripes is possible in a VW beetle...if your tyres aren't good enough for the power. Skids can be made to happen if you want them, regardless of transmission. Just buy crap shoes...!

If you mod the car with the usual cooler, injectors and exhaust mods + tune, you'll be powerskidding, don't worry.

Would be far better just to go to any Ford dealer, drive both and simply find out for yourself.......

Are you in a remote location or something maybe, hence not an option?

What are the syncro's like in the 6 speed? do they engage gear really smoothly? kinda over knotching when going in gear :(

The FG box is notchy when cold. Once it warms up its really smooth. Plus they all suffer from rollover noise and sloppy thrust bearings.

Saying that they are bulletproof boxes and will handle 500kw all day with a decent clutch.

Well its official gentlemen the following is information obtained from the Wheels 2006 (April) performance car of the year. Expensive Daewoo V Ford. Here are the Winton Lap Times, and top speeds down the straight.

1. BF Typhoon manual 1:44.60

2. XR6 Turbo manual 1:44.95

3. Expensive Daewoo SS Manual 1:45.80

4. XR6 Turbo Auto 1:45.90

5. HSV GTO Coupe Manual 1:45.95

6. FPV GT Manual 1:46.05

7. XR8 Manual 1:46.50

Top Speeds

1. F6 177.2 kph

2. XR6 Turbo Auto 172

3. FPV GT 171

4. XR6 Turbo Manual 169.7

5. XR8 168.6

6. Expensive Daewoo SS 167.1

7. HSV GTO Coupe 166.3

In conclusion it was quite surprising to see the 0.35 sec lap time difference between the manual Phoon and XR6 Turbo manual these are for BF but I feel comparable in FG Cheers

Better brakes would be the cause of that. The rest is pretty interesting but.

Not sure how the GTO was slower then an SS, lighter more power and better brakes?
